Abstract:
A method for producing a foamed bovine teat dip is provided. This method may include providing a teat cup configured to surround a bovine teat wherein the teat cup may have an open end sized to accept a bovine teat. This method may also include providing a source of teat dip remote from the teat cup, advancing teat dip from the source of teat dip towards the teat cup, providing a source of compressed fluid remote from the teat cup, sending compressed fluid from the source of compressed fluid towards the teat cup and creating a foam by mixing compressed fluid from the source of compressed fluid with teat dip. Milking the bovine may shortly follow this foaming method.
Abstract:
A milking inflation fits over the upper end of a teat cup shell, with a peripheral shoulder and cuff adapted to surround and sealingly engage the upper rim of the shell. A substantially flat, relatively thin section (mouthpiece) extends radially inwardly from the shoulder and toward a center portion which defines a circular central opening or mouth for receiving a teat of a lactating animal. A plurality of geometrically-shaped indentations are aligned in a circumferentially extending pattern around the mouth. The indentations are formed integrally in a broad surface of the mouthpiece and extend radially inwardly from the shoulder and cuff toward the center portion and central opening. The inward tips of the geometrical indentations leave a substantially raised portion around the center opening, and due to the alignment of the geometrical indentations there is an immediate raised portion around the central opening of the mouthpiece. The indentations provide improved flexibility for the mouthpiece which allows the mouthpiece to better adapt to various sizes of animal's teats. The immediate portion around the opening, with its raised portion, provides increased integrity and stability during the use of the milking inflation.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus for automatically cleaning a teat of an animal, such as a dairy cow. The apparatus generally includes a first housing having a longitudinal axis and an interior wall defining a teat cleaning compartment, a motor (or other powering device)operatively coupled to the first housing for imparting rotary motion thereto about its longitudinal axis, and a first set of bristles engaged with the interior wall and extending radially inward therefrom, wherein the rotary motion imparted to the first housing is translated to the first set of bristles. The apparatus further includes a second housing concentrically positioned around the first housing that includes a cleaning fluid inlet nozzle positioned in fluid communication with a cleaning fluid conduit, and a cleaning fluid discharge nozzle. A source of cleaning fluid is operatively connected to the cleaning fluid inlet nozzle, and a pressure source is operatively connected to the cleaning fluid discharge nozzle in order to draw the fluid out of the apparatus.
Abstract:
A device for milking animals, such as cows, which device comprises at least one teat cup and a foremilk reservoir for containing a certain amount of foremilk, substantially obtained at the beginning of the milking process. The foremilk reservoir is provided with an inlet and an outlet with an outlet-closing means for the foremilk. The device is provided with a milk container for containing milk obtained, and with at least one milk line connecting the teat cup to the milk container. The foremilk reservoir is integrated in the teat cup. A teat cup for milking animals, such as cows. The teat cup is provided with a foremilk reservoir for containing a certain amount of foremilk, substantially obtained at the beginning of the milking process, said foremilk reservoir being provided with an inlet and an outlet with an outlet-closing means for the foremilk.
Abstract:
An apparatus for producing a foam surfactant suitable for a bovine teat dip comprises means for air pressurization of a surfactant solution containing a germicide, disinfectant, biocide, etc., means for passing the air-surfactant mixture through a flow or line mixer to a foam holding cup adjacent the teat area and means for expanding the mixture in the holding cup to produce an adherent surfactant foam product with reduced run off, which both protects and reduces infection of the teat and surrounding udder area.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a milking method in which at least one teat cup is connected to a teat of the animal to be milked and milked milk is discharged from the teat cup, and in which upon cessation of the flow of milked milk a cleaning medium is passed via a supply line into the teat cup. Furthermore, the present invention relates to an apparatus which is suited for carrying out the method and comprises at least one teat cup which communicates with a milk line conducting milked milk and in the interior of which a supply line ends via which cleaning medium which has been discharged from a source can be introduced into the teat cup. The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for preventing dirt and germs from penetrating into the milked milk with more reliability. According to the invention the cleaning medium as well as air introduced for discharging the milked milk are introduced via the supply line into the teat cup.
Abstract:
A device for monitoring the cleaning of a milk line during a cleaning cycle is disclosed. The device is provided with a monitoring-unit comprising a computer and a memory for storing data at least temporarily, with a thermometer for measuring the temperature of a fluid that is present or has been present in the milk line and for supplying to the monitoring-unit a temperature signal that is indicative of the measured temperature, and with a comparing device for determining whether the measured temperature is higher than a predetermined threshold temperature, the comparing device being suitable for determining the first point of time when the measured temperature has come above the threshold temperature for the first time during a cleaning cycle, and for determining the last point of time when the measured temperature has come above the threshold temperature for the last time during the same cleaning cycle.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an automatic milking plant comprising a teat cup connected via a flexible connection hose to a collecting piece for collecting extracted milk and for transmitting a vacuum required for milking, the collecting piece being provided with a connecting piece for the flexible connection hose. The plant is characterized in that the connecting piece and/or the flexible connection hose are implemented such that the flexible connection hose is stiffened in the connection zone of the connecting piece and that the stiffened region of the flexible connection hose extends beyond a milk-carrying area of the connecting piece in the axial direction, the end of a hose sleeve which faces away from the connecting piece being designed asymmetrically in the longitudinal direction, and said hose sleeve enclosing the flexible connection hose at least partially in the area of the connecting piece. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a hose sleeve for a flexible connection hose in an automatic milking plant.
Abstract:
A milking apparatus for laboratory animals enables a milking operation to be performed on a laboratory animal (such as a rat) by a single experimenter, and also enables universal milking data to be obtained that is not influenced by individual difference among experimenters. A teat cup enables milking to be performed directly from the nipple of a relatively small and prolific laboratory animal such as a rat and mouse. The invention provides useful means for clarifying the influence of harmful extrinsic substances on living organisms via milk. The apparatus comprises a milk-collecting container 10 whose inside can be kept blocked from the outside air, two, i.e., a first and second, tubes 12, 13 inserted into the milk-collecting container in a communicated manner, and a teat cup 20 replaceably mounted on the other end of the first tube 12. The other end of the second tube 13 is provided with a pressure switching means such as electromagnetic valves 33A and 33B that can switch the state inside the second tube 13 between a state where the inside is connected to the negative pressure creating source 35 and another state where it is opened to the atmosphere.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and device for checking the teat rubber of a teat cup. The object of this invention is providing a simple and reliable method for checking the teat rubber and a device suitable for implementing the method. In this respect, this invention suggests that the behavior of the teat rubber is acquired with a pressure difference profile acting between the pulse cavity and the pressure cavity and this currently determined behavior is compared with a reference behavior. The device according to the invention comprises a device for the direct checking of the teat rubber behavior.
