    Abstract: The present invention relates to a floor grinding apparatus (100) with a housing (110) having an interior space (111) open to one side, a carrier plate (120) rotatably mounted in the interior space (111) for receiving abrasives, and drive unit (130) adapted to rotate the carrier plate (120), the housing (110) having an inner dust sealing ring (112) with at least one recess (115), wherein the inner dust sealing ring (112) divides the interior space (111) into an inner portion (113) and an outer portion (114), and wherein the carrier plate (120) is disposed in the inner portion (114), at least one extraction opening (116) disposed in the outer portion (114), and an outer dust sealing ring (117) enclosing the interior space (111), the inner dust sealing ring (112) and the outer dust sealing ring (117) being arranged to define a common working plane parallel to the plane of rotation of the carrier plate (120).

    Abstract: A floor polishing or grinding pad assembly is provided. In one aspect, a polishing or grinding pad assembly employs a fibrous pad, a reinforcement layer or ring, and multiple floor-contacting disks. In another aspect, the reinforcement layer includes a central hole through which the fibrous pad is accessible and the fibrous pad at the hole has a linear dimension greater than a linear dimension of one side of the adjacent reinforcement layer. In yet another aspect, at least one of the floor-contacting disks has an angle offset from that of a base surface of the disk, the fibrous pad and/or the reinforcement layer. A further aspect employs a smaller set of disks alternating between and/or offset from a larger set of the disks. In another aspect, the reinforcement layer includes a wavy or undulating internal edge shape.

    Abstract: A coupler is disclosed for coupling floor maintenance pads to a pad driven disc. The coupler has one part which is mounted to or from an integral part of the driver disc and a second part which snaps onto the first part for holding and centering a maintenance pad to a disc. A spring lock arrangement is provided for preventing the coupler from separating and comprises a spring clip carried by the retainer engageable with lip structure formed on an axially extending wall or flange forming part of the base part. The spring clip is held to the retainer by hub segments and axially spaced tabs which define slots for slidably receiving portions of the spring clip. The spring clips include a pair of elongate legs interconnected by a bridging segment on one end and a pair of finger engageable pressure pads on opposite ends by which the spring clip is squeezed to move corner segments carried by legs inwardly in order to disengage the lip structure thereby releasing the retainer from the base.
