摘要:
The invention is a dental articulator with an extended range of motion of the maxilla relative to the mandible The articulator includes a base and a mandibular assembly extending horizontally from that base. A mandibular plate is provided with a supporting structure, which is aligned with corresponding cavities in the mandibular base cast for easy removal and attachment. A base is further equipped with a vertical post slidingly positioned on a vertical shaft of that base. A maxillary assembly is retained on that post via a ball-and-socket arrangement and further via a horizontal shaft positioned in two semi-opened sockets and retained by a spring-biased pin. The maxillary assembly contains a plate supporting a removable base cast in a manner similar to that of the mandibular assembly. The articulator saves time and allows for easy positioning of the maxilla and mandible.

Dental articulator apparatus includes a base articulator plate and a top articulator plate mounted on a support stanchion. On confronting surfaces of the top and base articulator plates are formed confronting mold cavities that receive dental “stone” mixed to a “workable” consistency so that the cavities can be filled with plastic “stone” to reconstruct from a “negative” impression a “positive” replica of a patient's teeth in stone. A press ejects the dental stone casting from the mold cavity in which it is formed. Embedded in the stone casting is a plastic sleeve. The plastic sleeve slidably accommodates a guide pin that passes through the cavity wall. To remove the dental stone casting from the mold cavity, the guide pin is first removed by sliding it out of the plastic sleeve. The ejected dental casting may be segmented to separate one stone “tooth” from another. A portion of the embedded tubular sleeve remains in each of the stone “tooth” segments. The separated dental casting segment of each of the teeth, or group of teeth, when reinserted into the mold cavity in its original position, is secured in that position by reinstating the guide pin. Both the base and top articulator plates may be pivotally and slidably mounted on the support stanchion for universal accommodation of upper “teeth” with lower “teeth” in the same manner in which the mandibular joints in the human jaw function to accommodate upper and lower teeth in humans.

A cover for a working cast makes it extremely easy to mount and dismount a working cast to and from an articulator, improves workability, and keeps the working cast as pollution-free as possible. An articulator is also proposed. The articulator has a base and a support member each carrying a rotatable and pivotable retainer plate. Each retainer plate can be fixed in position by turning a knob. Each retainer plate has a magnet plate on its outer surface. On the other hand, a base portion of a master model having a tooth portion is kept covered with the cover when molded. The cover has on its bottom surface a magnet plate. By magnetic attraction between the magnet plates of the cover and one of the retainer, the master model can be mounted on the articulator. On the other hand, a tooth portion of an antagonist model is fixed to a base member. The antagonist model is mounted on the articulator by magnetic attraction between a magnet plate provided on the bottom of the base plate and the magnet plate on one of the retainer plates.

A face bow assembly including a face bow having a bite fork portion to carry an index trays to be positioned in a patient's mouth. The bow has outwardly extending wings to enable a dentist to support the bow. A vertical indicator rod mounted to the bow helps align the tray horizontally and the indicator rod vertically to the patient's mid-sagittal, while bite impression material on the tray hardens. The upper index tray is then mounted on a platform on a dental articulator. The platform has an incisal line for alignment with an incisal line(s) for adjustability on the upper index tray. The platform also has vertical or horizontal adjustability with a built-in scale.

Disclosed is an articulator for completely reproducing mandibular movement of a living subject by performing adjustment of occlusion by regulating condylar spheres and condyle boxes disposed between maxillar and mandibular frames carrying maxillar and maxillar casts with a Bennett lift mechanism. The Bennett lift mechanism is mounted independently of the condyle boxes and on a base axis connecting the condylar spheres independently of the condyle boxes, so that vertical regulation of movements of a mandible in vertical, lateral and anteroposterior directions can be individually reproduced. Also, opening and closing movement of the maxillar and mandibular casts around the base axis (intercondylar axis) can be performed in an centric occlusion position.

The articulator of the present invention provides relative manipulation of dental casts for simulation of occlusal and masticatory movements of the mouth. The articulator consists of three parts—a lower frame, an upper frame, and a middle frame. The lower frame is comprised of an elongated rectangular box, a bracket, and a male hinge. The elongated box has an open bottom and an insert at the top with a series of grooves. The upper frame is comprised of an elongated, channeled surface, a deformable bracket, a female hinge, and a platform with holes. The bottom surface has flat areas to attach a pre-prepared cast with an adhesive. Outside of the flat areas are two rectangular boxes to pour the model stone, forming the opposing cast. A platform with three holes is provided for maintaining the original vertical height of the jaws. The horizontal section of the bracket may be softened by heating for quick bite correction and remounting. The middle frame is snap-seated on top of the elongated box in the lower frame, forming a rectangular box which is filled with the model stone.

It is an object to provide an articulator with which upper and lower jaw models can easily be manufactured, corrected and adjusted so that precise upper and lower jaw models are manufactured, the structure is simplified and operability is improved. An upper jaw model mount, on which an upper jaw model is mounted, is combined with an upper jaw model joining member such that adjustments in the right and left directions can be performed. The upper jaw model joining member is combined with a stand through a slide support mechanism such that right- and left-hand heights can independently be adjusted. A lower jaw model joining member is combined with the stand through a slide guide mechanism such that fore-and-aft directional adjustment can be performed. A lower jaw model mount, having a lower jaw model joining member on which a lower jaw model is mounted, and an incisal table are combined with each other. An incisal pin is combined with the upper jaw model joining member such that a rotational direction and the height can be adjusted. Since adjustment in each direction can independently be performed in each portion, the shape of the jaws of a patient can precisely and easily be reproduced.

The present invention provides methods and devices for determining an axis of upper and lower jaw articulation of a patient and modeling jaw movement about such an axis, particularly with the use of computerized visual images. The methods comprise providing digital data sets of tooth and bite configuration information which may be used to determine an estimated condylar axis of rotation for a patient. A number of data sets may be acquired and utilized for such estimations. Data sets may be obtained with the use of bite registers. Such registers may be formed by a number of methods and device designs of the present invention. The resulting digital data sets and axis of articulation may then be utilized to generate animated visual images of a patient's jaws in various bite configurations throughout a given rotation around the determined axis. Accuracy of such dynamic imaging, in addition to the determination of the location of the condylar axis, may increase with the number of bite configurations recorded throughout the rotation.
