Abstract:
A dental instrument includes at least one removable or replaceable dental tip. The dental instrument includes a spring actuated collet and collar housed internally within a handle. The handle includes a handle center affixed to a center rod and a grip portion housing the collet and collar and a handle center affixed to a center rod. The center rod is affixed to the collet. The collet includes spring fingers that are biased radially inward by the collar to retain the dental tip. When the grip portion of the handle is rotated about a longitudinal axis of the handle relative to the handle center, camming surfaces associated with the grip portion and the handle center cause translational movement along the longitudinal axis to engage or disengage the collar from the collet.
Abstract:
This invention is a classic dental shepherd's hook explorer that has been fitted with a dycal style ball on the end, for a completely new instrument designed to facilitate exacting placement of cavity liners and bases, spreading flowable composite underneath fillings by the Dentist, and placing Interim Therapeutic Restorations (ITR) such as fluoride releasing glass ionomer by the Dentist or Registered Dental Hygienist Expanded Functions (RDHEF).Doctors then can reach over matrix bands and apply dental bases and liners, or spread flowable composite directly to the axial wall and pulp floor of their preps, and RDHEF's can access hard to reach interproxirnal, root and furcation areas to apply glass ionomer or other Interim Therapeutic Restorations where incipient caries have been hand excavated.
Abstract:
A vibrator for attaching composite resin to a tooth includes a housing, a vibration motor accommodated in the housing and configured to generate vibration, a micro-computer configured to control an operation and a vibration frequency of the vibration motor, a vibration tip configured to couple with one side of the housing to be exposed to an outside of the housing and to transfer the vibration to the composite resin, a vibration bushing provided at one end of the vibration tip and accommodated in the housing, and a control switch provided on one side of the housing and configured to generate a vibration motor control signal in response to a user contacting or pushing the control switch.
Abstract:
A dental instrument with an elongated tip housing a ball within a socket. The exposed surface of the ball may be pressed against a restorative material on a tooth surface in order to evenly distribute the restorative material without incorporating air bubbles. A dental instrument may have a second elongated tip housing a ball on an opposing end. The elongated tip housing the ball may be removably attached or may be rotatable.
Abstract:
An ultrasonic flossing device includes a housing having a proximal portion and a distal portion. An engine is disposed within the housing and is configured to convert input energy into ultrasonic energy and an electronic driving circuit is coupled to both the engine and the power source. A power source is electrically coupled to the engine and is configured to deliver input energy to the engine. At least one acoustic transformer is coupled to the engine, the at least one acoustic transformer being configured to amplify the ultrasonic energy. A main fluid reservoir is configured to store a fluid therein, the main fluid reservoir being coupled to the at least one acoustic transformer such that, upon activation, the fluid transmits the ultrasonic energy to a treatment area.
Abstract:
A rotary rammer is provided which is suitable for the cold filling of a root canal. The rotary rammer includes an active zone having a shoulder and a point. The active zone has a generally conical form, an outer surface of which is smooth, a diameter of a section of the active zone in the vicinity of the point being less than a diameter of a section of the active zone in the vicinity of the shoulder. An end section is provided adjacent to the shoulder of the active zone. The end section has a means for connecting to a mandrel of a mechanical rotational driving device. The rotary rammer is applicable to the dental field.
Abstract:
A tip-based computer controlled system for a dental delivery device is disclosed. The system automatically controls an operating characteristic such as power control or fluid flow based on tip identification and history. The operating characteristic may also be controlled in response to particular conditions throughout the dental procedure, such as (but not limited to) temperature, dental hygiene material, fluid type, etc. The system may provide an alert or shut off if unsafe conditions occur and/or error circumstances are detected. An operator interface is provided to configure the system and augment/override an executing control algorithm during a procedure. A method and a computer-readable storage medium are also disclosed.
Abstract:
The shank (12) of a disposable rotary cutting tool (10) comprises a pipe section (16) cut from a drawn metal pipe. The tool head (14) is formed from a cut-out (18a, 18b) of a drawn metal sheet or a section of a metal tube by non-cutting machining. The pipe section (16) and the tool head (14) are advantageously attached by force fitting.
Abstract:
A dental instrument comprises a handle member and a tool assembly. The handle member includes a first end, a second end and a longitudinal axis. The tool assembly extends from the first end of the handle member. The tool assembly comprises a tool arm, a first blade member and a second blade member. The tool arm has a proximal end extending from the first end of the handle and a distal end spaced therefrom. The first blade member extends away from the distal end of the tool arm and has a first flattened region. The second blade member extends away from the distal end of the tool arm and has a second flattened region. The first and second flattened regions are substantially perpendicular to each other in one dimension. The first blade member is configured for substantially transverse movement within a mouth of a patient. The second blade member is configured for substantially longitudinal movement within a mouth of a patient. Rotation of the handle member about the longitudinal axis thereof alternatively places one of the first and second blade member in an operative position.
Abstract:
A paste feeder for moving paste from a paste cartridge to a cavity in a patient's mouth is described. The paste feeder has a paste cartridge for holding a paste and a paste channel defining a cavity for holding the paste cartridge. The paste feeder also has a paste feeder tube, operatively connected between the paste channel and a dispensing tip. A ratcheting device of the paste feeder operatively connects to a plunger. The plunger moves the paste from the paste cartridge through the paste feeder tube to the dispensing tip in controlled incremental amounts.
