Abstract: A clamping shank for a tool for clamping the tool into a rotary driving clamping device is proposed. The clamping shank comprises a circular shank portion and a pentagonal shank portion adjoining the circular shank portion. Four contiguous side faces of the pentagonal shank portion each form an angle of 90° to each other in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the clamping shank. A fifth side face of the pentagonal shank portion forms in said plane angles of greater than 90° with each of the adjacent side faces of the pentagonal shank portion.

Abstract: An indexable drill insert (10) includes a top surface (12), a bottom surface (14), and a plurality of side surfaces (16) adjoining the top surface (12) and the bottom surface (14). A plurality of cutting edges (20) is formed by an intersection of a respective side surface (16) with the top surface (12). One aspect of the invention is that the top surface (12) includes a protruding portion (50) having a backwall (50a) and a segmented portion (52) extending radially outwardly with respect to the protruding portion (50) for effective chip breaking. Another aspect of the invention is that a rake surface (48) has a positive rake angle (RA) that varies along a first cutting edge section (22) of the cutting edge (20) to lower cutting force.

Abstract: A cutting tool including a body, a blade, a feed shaft, and a locking member. The body defines an axis and is adapted to be received by a spindle of a power tool. The blade is removably supportable on the body and rotatable about the axis for cutting a workpiece. A feed shaft is removably supportable in the body and rotatable about the axis for engaging a workpiece, the feed shaft being mountable in the cutting tool to engage and at least partially restrain the blade. The feed shaft further includes an opening transverse to the axis. The locking member is engageable with the body and with the opening in the feed shaft. Advancement of the locking member into the opening tightens both the blade and the feed shaft to the body.

Abstract: A surface-coated cutting tool includes a base material and a coating formed on a surface of the base material. The coating includes a first hard coating layer including crystal grains having a sodium chloride-type crystal structure. The crystal grain has a layered structure in which a first layer composed of nitride or carbonitride of AlxTi1-x and a second layer composed of nitride or carbonitride of AlyTi1-y are stacked alternately into one or more layers. The first layer each has an atomic ratio x of Al varying in a range of 0.76 or more to less than 1. The second layer each has an atomic ratio y of Al varying in a range of 0.45 or more to less than 0.76. The largest value of difference between the atomic ratio x and the atomic ratio y is 0.05≤x-y≤0.5.

Abstract: A dust vacuuming drill device is adapted to be connected with a vacuum suction device by a socket, and includes a drill bit and a driven shank threadedly engaged with each other and cooperatively defining therein an internal dust passageway in communication with the socket for removing the dust generated during a drilling operation. The drill unit can be removed from the driven shank when the drill unit is broken so as to readily replace the drill unit without the need to detach the driven shank from the socket, which results in low operation and material costs.
