摘要： The invention relates to a sports racquet having a head having a string bed is attached to two throat beams that extend continuously downward to a shaft having a handle. Each throat beam contains a bending zone in which the width of the throat beam parallel to the string bed and the width of the same throat beam perpendicular to the string bed gradually changes in equal, but opposite, dimensions such that the circumference of the throat beam remains substantially constant through at least the length of the bending zone or the length of the entire throat beam. Where the width of the throat beam parallel to the string bed is the widest and the width of the throat beam perpendicular to the string beg is the narrowest defines the flexible cross-section or flex point of the bending zone.

摘要： A tennis racquet frame including a handle having a free end, a racquet head defined by a closed loop frame, a bridge that defines a portion of the closed loop frame of the racquet head and a throat connecting the racquet head to the handle, with the closed loop frame having a first half remote from the handle and a second half being closer to the handle. The mid-section of the racquet extends from and includes the second half of the closed loop frame and the throat, to a point approximately 20 centimeters to approximately 36 centimeters from the free end of the handle, in which the thickness of at least 25%, more at least preferably 50%, and most at least 75% of the mid-section is less than approximately 60% of the maximum thickness of the racquet in the first half of the closed loop frame. A tennis racquet having similar features for an open loop frame, but not having a bridge, is also disclosed.

摘要： A variable stiffness striking implement, such as, for example, a ball bat typically used in baseball, softball, or rubber ball. The striking implement, preferably has a separate barrel and handle. A wedge and joint attached directly to the handle or indirectly to the handle using an interface portion engage the interior surface of the barrel. Most preferably, the wedge and joint are molded about the interface portion and a handle preform is then inserted into the intention of the interface portion and the handle is then molded. Wedge hardness is selectable and a stiffness member may also be employed. Stiffness member hardness may be selectable or may be adjustable by varied adjustment of a cap in relation to the barrel. Alternatively, the cap may not be adjustable in relation to the barrel so that a selected stiffness member hardness is fixed.

摘要： This invention relates to an improvement in a split bridge sports racket having a frame with a rim and a handle, the rim being formed with string tunnels through which the string extends to form an impact surface, the handle having a Y configuration, the arms of which merge with the rim to define a bridge section of the rim that extends between the ends of the arms of the Y configuration, the bridge having a discontinuity, the free ends of the bridge at the discontinuity articulating with a bridge insert to reduce player arm stress in use. The improvement resides in providing a bridge having a length to accommodate at least four central longitudinal string tunnels of the racket with each central longitudinal string tunnel extending in the same direction as their respective longitudinal strings through the said bridge and wherein a support plug is mounted within the hollow of each of the free ends of the bridge to limit the movement of the free ends during play and prevent cracking of the frame from use.
