摘要: An apparatus for washing and decontaminating soils includes a high-pressure microbubble generation module, a coarse grain heterogeneous separation module, an ultrasonic shock module, and a fine grain heterogeneous separation module. The high-pressure microbubble generation module generates first microbubbles, and uses a first shock energy generated when the first microbubbles burst to remove an oil contaminant on coarse grain soils. The coarse grain heterogeneous separation module uses the difference in density to separate the oil contaminant and the coarse grain soils from a soil and water mixture. The ultrasonic shock module generates second microbubbles and performs an ultrasonic shock operation to increase a second shock energy generated when the second microbubbles burst to remove another oil contaminant on fine grain soils. The fine grain heterogeneous separation module uses the difference in density to separate the another oil contaminant and the fine grain soils from the soil and water mixture.

摘要: Soil contamination by heavy metals constitutes an important environmental problem, whereas field applicability of existing remediation technologies has encountered numerous obstacles, such as long operation time, high chemical cost, large energy consumption, secondary pollution, and soil degradation. A design and demonstration of a method is provided which is based on asymmetrical alternating current electrochemistry (AACE) that achieves high degrees of contaminant removal for different heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Cd) at different initial concentrations (from 100 to 10,000 ppm), all reaching corresponding regulation levels for residential scenario after rational treatment time (from 30 min to 6 h). No excessive nutrient loss in treated soil was observed and no secondary toxic product was produced. Long-term experiment and plant assay showed the high sustainability of the method and its feasibility for agricultural use.

摘要: Methods and systems including processing dredge spoils to reclaim soil therefrom. The techniques may include a feed system for receiving dredge spoils, a dewatering system for removing water from the dredge spoils, and a grinder/mixer for grinding the dredge spoils from the dewatering system while mixing the dredge spoils with one or more additional materials.

摘要: The invention disclosed herein includes apparatus and a method for collecting leachate and storing it to provide ballast on top of landfill covers at a landfill. A control berm is built on top of the exposed landfill cover forming a barrier for ponding leachate. Leachate is collected from the waste interred at the landfill through known leachate collection system methods and apparatus and transported for deposit on the top surface of a landfill cover thereby resulting in the impoundment and ponding of the leachate on top of the landfill cover and providing ballast to keep the landfill cover in place and minimizing, if not preventing, wind uplift or shearing of the cover.

摘要: The present invention is a system for treating land, either to reclaim or optimize the land. Embedded subsurface pipes deliver water to the land. The water may be loaded with soil-treating additives. As water streams from the pipes, it treats the land before passing into a drainage ditch around the periphery of the land. The water is removed from the ditch and recycled, removing contaminants (in reclamation operations) or adding more additives (in optimization operations), before returning to the pipes for another round of treatment, if necessary.

摘要: An injection tip assembly 10 and methods for use more reliably provide for delivery of fluid substances, such as materials that promote removal, destruction, or isolation of contaminants, into targeted zones within soil or bedrock. The injection tip assembly 10 permits the application of pressurized fluid 163 so as to erode or cut a desired cavity or eroded volume 164 within the subsurface 14, allows for timely observation, adjustment, and control of pressure within the cavity, and directs the delivery of a second substance or fluid that may incorporate desired materials. The consequence of managed erosion and pressure control is to nucleate and propagate a hydraulic fracture of desirable form that optimally delivers remedial agents throughout the targeted formation.

摘要: A device and method for collecting sample fluids from an underground source which includes sample wells terminating in a corrugated conduit and sieve. The sampling regions for each sample well is separated by a grout or expanding seal barrier. Negative pressure is optionally applied to extract fluids from the underground matrix for sampling. The device can also be used for remediating an environmental contaminant from soil or aquifers. Upon identification of at least one environmental contaminant, a remediation composition is injected into the soil or aquifer using the sampling wells of the device. The remediation fluids can be directed to specific locations by selectively utilizing one or more sampling wells to inject the remediation fluid.

摘要: A subsurface soil purification method including: warming an activator liquid, for stimulating decomposer microorganisms that decompose a contaminant in subsurface soil, to a higher temperature than a groundwater temperature, and feeding the activator liquid into the subsurface soil by injecting the activator liquid into an in-ground injection well; warming an activator liquid, for stimulating decomposer microorganisms that decompose a contaminant in subsurface soil, the decomposer microorganisms being infused in the activator liquid, to a higher temperature than a groundwater temperature, and feeding the activator liquid into the subsurface soil by injecting the activator liquid into an in-ground injection well, or warming a purification liquid for decomposing a contaminant in subsurface soil, to a higher temperature than a groundwater temperature, and feeding the purification liquid into the subsurface soil by injecting the purification liquid into an in-ground injection well. The subsurface soil purification method also includes forcing air into the injection well, and feeding the air into the subsurface soil from a position in the injection well that is lower than a position in the injection well for feed-in of the activator liquid or the purification liquid.
