    摘要: An external seal for sealing against an elbow fitting of a fluid line has an elbow clamp and a seal. The elbow clamp has a first part that is sized and shaped to engage the outer radiused curve of the elbow fitting, and a second part that engages the inner radiused curve of the elbow fitting. The first part defines a tool opening and a tool engagement profile sealingly engages a valve in axial alignment with the tool opening. A clamping member brings the first part into engagement with the outer radiused curve of the elbow fitting. The seal is adjacent to the first part of the elbow clamp in line with the tool opening and seals around the tool opening between the elbow clamp and the elbow fitting when the clamping force is applied.

    摘要: Tapping devices and methods for using such devices to tap into a pipe are described. The tapping device contains a drill connected to the proximal portion of a shaft, a tapping tool attached to a distal portion of the shaft, and a protection device attached to the shaft. The protection device itself contains containing an enlarged distal portion, an enlarged proximal portion, and a middle member extending therebetween. The user can hold and use the tapping device with a first hand on a handle of the drill and a second hand on the middle member of the protection device. The protection device protects the hand from hitting an object (including the pipe), the socket, or the drill, thereby improving the safety for the user. Other embodiments are also described.

    摘要: A boring device is inserted into a lateral pipe to bore a pipe lining material inserted into a main pipe across the lateral pipe intersecting therewith and a portion of which blocks an opening of the lateral pipe that communicates with the main pipe. The boring device has a rotatable shaft, a bearing member for rotatably bearing the rotatable shaft, and a boring blade mounted on the rotatable shaft for rotation therewith to bore through the portion of the pipe lining material that is blocking the opening of the lateral pipe. A supporting member is mounted on one side of the bearing member. An inflatable bag is mounted on the other side of the external periphery of the bearing member. The inflatable bag is inflatable in the lateral pipe so that the inflatable bag and the supporting member are pressed against an internal peripheral surface of the lateral pipe.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for introducing a pig-like tool into an operating pipeline, such as a fluid pipe. According to the invention the pipeline is drilled during operation and the tool is injected into the pipeline through the drilled hole. During a corresponding tool removal from the pipeline a method is provided for prereconnaissance for the determination of a degree of contamination, cleaning, surveying, inspecting, repairing, etc. of pipelines by means of a corresponding, pig-like tool. The invention also relates to a device and a tool permitting the performance of the inventive method. Thus, otherwise unpiggable pipelines can be worked in a cost-efficient manner.

    摘要: A platform for a drill is supported on four support members which are pivotable on the platform to alter the angle between opposite members. In one embodiment a stop limits the movement of the support members so that the maximum angle between them can be controlled to suit the diameter of a pipe on which the apparatus is mounted. In another embodiment, the support members are attached by connecting rods to a cross member which is raised and lowered on a threaded rod to pivot the members.
