    摘要: The cutting tool may be employed to shape an internal hole, provide a form to the outer periphery of a workpiece, or shape a hole to a predetermined form while cutting an exterior profile to a desired shape. The tool has a shank with an oval shape flange with a tool-supporting portion having a similar oval shape flange with mating apertures in the flanges. The apertures in the first flange contain a thread while the holes in the second flange are somewhat enlarged. Three set screws are provided in the second flange at each end thereof in engagement with the screws which retain the flanges together. The set screws shift the second flange in any direction relative to the first flange which slopes relative to the axis of the shank so that the tool is offset at an angle to the axis of the shank.

    摘要: A rotary cutting tool is provided for cutting an opening in a sheet of material (e.g., drywall) around a pre-installed item (e.g., an electrical box). The cutting tool may include a shaft, at least one cutter, a guide tip and a shoulder formed by a lower edge of the cutter adjacent the guide tip. The shoulder may have a width that corresponds to the width of a wall of the pre-installed item. The width of the shoulder may be equal to the width of the wall, or it may be slightly greater than the width of the wall. The guide tip may include a bearing to prevent marring of the wall of the item when the guide tip is rotating and in contact with the wall. An adjustable collar and corresponding bearing may also be disposed around the shaft for controlling a preferred cutting depth of the cutter. The cutting tool may be engaged with any suitable rotary tool, including one having an adjustable table for controlling a preferred cutting depth of the cutter. Related methods of using a cutting tool to cut an opening for receiving the item or box are also provided. The rotating guide tip may be moved into contact with the wall and the shoulder may be positioned above and/or in contact with an upper edge of the wall. The cutting tool is then moved around the wall while rotating to cut an opening in the material through which the item or box may be positioned.

    摘要: An attachment to a milling machine having a rotary drive, particularly useful for cutting sharp interior corners in a workpiece, comprising a rotary shaft couplable to the rotary drive of the milling machine so as to be rotatable about the shaft's longitudinal axis. The attachment further comprises a conical cutter member having a rotary axis, an apex located on the axis, and at least one external conical surface portion having a leading end at the apex and a trailing end spaced apart from the rotary axis and from the apex along the rotary axis. The conical cutter member has a cutting edge constituting a part of the conical surface portion and extending between the leading and trailing ends thereof. The rotary axis of the conical cutter member is oriented transversely though not perpendicularly to the shaft longitudinal axis. The conical cutter member being coupled to the rotary shaft so as to be rotated about the rotary axis by the shaft, upon the shaft's rotation about the longitudinal axis.

    摘要: An adjustable depth router is particularly suited for routing openings in ducts beneath register openings in a floor, without use of router bit extensions. A small diameter pneumatic motor, whose casing is mounted at the lower end of an elongated air supply casing of the same diameter, holds the router bit at its lower end; this assembly is vertically adjustable in a router frame. When routing through a floor opening, the base is rested on the floor, the cylindrical assembly projects through the floor opening so the router bit will operate at the desired depth therebeneath; and the bearing of the cylindrical assembly against the edge of its floor opening guides the router. An opening is thus routed parallel to the floor opening and spaced inwardly by the difference between the radius of the casing and the radius of the router bit.

    摘要: An eccentric boring tool and method of forming a bore off center from the central axis of a workpiece are disclosed. The tool includes a tool holder nonrotatably supported relative to a workpiece and an outer housing supported for rotation with the workpiece and rotation relative to the tool holder. An eccentric supported within the housing mounts a bearing which in turn supports the tool holder. The eccentric rotates with the housing causing the longitudinal axis of the tool holder to orbit about the longitudinal axis of the workpiece. An end mill cutting tool is supported in the tool holder. A plurality of discs are supported in the forward end of the housing. The discs engage the workpiece, lock the housing to the workpiece and cause the housing to rotate at the same speed as the workpiece.
