Abstract: This disclosure relates to a metal-cutting machine tool with a base body, which is rotatable about an axis of rotation relative to a workpiece to be machined, at least one plate seat disposed outside the axis of rotation on the base body and a cutting insert, which is inserted into the plate seat and held therein by at least one fastening means and which is provided with a coating, at least in the area of its cutting edge. In order to compensate for positional tolerances, according to this disclosure the plate seat comprises a positioning surface oriented toward the axis of rotation, and the cutting insert has a reference surface lying against the positioning surface and facing away from the axis of rotation, for radially determining the position of its cutting edge, wherein the coating is also applied to the reference surface.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to a machine tool comprising a tool holder which rotates relative to a workpiece to be machined and has a tool axis, and a plurality of cutting inserts that are removably attached to the tool holder, the active cutting edges of said cutting inserts having a common cutting circle which is coaxial to the tool axis. According to this disclosure, the tool holder has a cylinder-type insert seat shell for radially positioning the cutting inserts, which rotates about the tool axis. The cutting inserts have at least one contact surface that can be brought into contact with the insert seat shell.

Abstract: A reaming tool includes a tool body having an axially rearward shank portion and an axially forward cutting portion, the forward cutting portion having at least one peripherally arranged cutting insert. The reaming tool also includes an inlet coolant channel formed in the tool body and an inlet opening at an axially rearward end of the shank portion. An outlet coolant channel is formed in the tool body and is in fluid communication with the inlet coolant channel, wherein the outlet coolant channel defines an outlet opening proximate to the cutting insert. In one particular aspect, at least a portion of the outlet coolant channel is non-linear. A method of making a component of the reaming tool by performing a printing operation on a substrate to form the component is also provided.

Abstract: An insert portion (3) of a reamer (1) is fixed, using screws (8), to a leading end portion of a body (2A). The insert portion (3) is configured by overlaying an insert (4) for finish machining and an insert (5) for rough machining, and forms a right hand cut right hand helix. On respective mating faces of the inserts (4, 5), convex portions and concave portions of the mating face of the insert (4) overlap with concave portions and convex portions of the mating face of the insert (5). The reamer (1) can enlarge a hole formed in a workpiece or change a shape of the hole. The inserts (4, 5) simultaneously cut an inner peripheral face of the hole, and can thus perform rough machining and finish machining in one pass. By overlapping the convex portions and the concave portions of each of the mating faces of the inserts (4, 5), they partially overlap in their respective thickness directions. A protrusion length of the insert portion (3) can thus be shortened.

Abstract: A tool coupling arrangement for drills and reamers includes tool and shank portions with respective tool and shank axial stoppers. An at least partially cylindrical tool coupling end of the tool portion is located within a longitudinal through forward bore portion in the shank portion, and being coupled therein via an elongated coupling member located further inwards in the shank portion and comprising axially opposite member coupling and pulling ends. The forward bore portion has front and rear sub-portions and a bore recess which is located therebetween and extends radially outwardly. In a locked position, the tool axial stopper abuts the shank axial stopper. The tool coupling end abuts the front and rear sub-portions. And the member coupling end is wedged between the tool coupling end and the bore recess.
