    摘要: Disclosed is a thread chase or tap capable of being inserted past damaged threads of a female threaded coupling and then rotated back to repair the damaged threads. The thread chase can be selectively expanded to engage chase blocks having cutting teeth against threads. Thereafter, a user can rotate the thread chase in a direction sufficient to cause the thread chase to move axially out of the female threaded coupling. Upon doing so, the chase blocks can be pushed outwardly and engage undamaged threads, and rotated so as to move upward and repair damaged threads.

    摘要: A thread cutting tool which can be configured to cut threads in a variety of bore sizes using universal thread cutting chasers mounted in select radial extension such as by using variable length tool blocks which are themselves interfit within retaining slots in the head portion of the tool, or by providing alternate radial position notches an the head portion for mounting the cutting chasers. By using variable tool blocks mounted to the head portion of the tool, universal thread cutting chasers having a preselected thread pitch can be utilized for multiple bore sizes, thus saving the expense of providing chasers or head portions corresponding to each bore size. Alternately, by providing alternate radial position notches in the head portion for mounting the cutting chasers, a single tool can be used for different bore sizes, such as for undertaking a start thread cut in a bore and then undertaking a finish thread cut in the pre-cut bore using an alternate radial position for the chasers.

    摘要: A readily removable tool holder constructed to be held in a receptacle which may be carried on the spindle of a tapping attachment. A torque release clutch is built into the removable tool holder for the purpose that when one tool holder is substituted for another, it is not necessary to make adjustments in the torque release clutch of the tapping attachment itself. The parts of the torque release clutch are of relatively small diameter to fit into the tool holder. Improvements are embodied in the torque release clutch. Clutch members are provided including a first clutch member and a second clutch member. The main biasing spring acts on the first clutch member. When the clutch parts are disengaged, the first member is moved against the spring and held in an inactive position wherein it is completely out of engagement with the teeth of the other clutch member to eliminate wear. The second clutch member is biased by a relatively light spring to provide just enough engagement between the clutch faces so that upon reversal such faces will re-engage.
