摘要: A method is disclosed for creating a design that appears to float in the face of a piece of material. A piece of fusible material is placed on top of a first piece of material. The fusible material is coated with an adhesive. The non-adhesive side of the fusible material is in contact with the face side of the first piece of material. The fusible material is sewn to the first piece of material. The stitches define the periphery of an unbroken design. The fusible material is trimmed outside the periphery of the unbroken design. Next, the fusible material and the fabric are trimmed inside the unbroken design to create an aperture. The fusible material is pulled through the aperture so that the adhesive is substantially interposed between fusible material the reverse side of the first piece of material. The fusible material is then fused to the reverse side of the first piece of material. A second piece of material is placed on the reverse side of the piece of fabric to cover the aperture. Finally, the second piece of material is sewn to the fabric thereby creating a design that appears to float in the first piece of fabric.

摘要: A method of making a quilt includes a batting including a heat activated adhesive coating each side or faces of the batting. The quilt covers are attached to the batting by sequentially placing the covers onto the respective batting faces and heating each cover and adjacent adhesive by moving a hot iron over each cover. The covers are connected to each by a plurality of spaced yarn or other suitable decorative connecting means which extend through the covers and batting to secure the batting in place and may form a desired decorative pattern. The inactive adhesive remains in the quilt or is removed by washing of the quilt. The batting with the inactive adhesive is provided as a commercially available product.

摘要: A method for using a three-dimensional, woven preform to assemble two components. The woven preform is infused with an adhesive, and at least one surface of the preform is bonded to at least one surface of one of the components using the adhesive within the preform. The other of the components is attached to the preform, and this may occur with fasteners after the adhesive is cured or by bonding the second component to the preform with the adhesive. Use of an adhesive, instead of a resin, creates a stronger joint, especially with fiber-reinforcement of the adhesive. The thickness of the compressible, three-dimensional weave provides for a larger dimensional tolerance at each bond line.

摘要: In a method of cutting a cloth of the invention, a cloth woven by warps and wefts is cut at 45 to 55 degrees to divide the cloth into a left-to-right cutting bias portion and a right-to-left cutting bias portion as bias cloths. The left-to-right cutting bias portion has a left-to-right stretching direction, and the right-to-left cutting bias portion has a right-to-left stretching direction. Then, the right-to-left cutting bias portion and the left-to-right cutting bias portion are cut into bias front cloths, bias adhesive core pieces, bias adhesive tapes, and bias linings. By crossing the bias core pieces or the like having the different stretching directions and bonding to a stretchable cloth, a stable stretchability and tension can be given to the stretchable cloth.

摘要: A method and apparatus for securing moldings to vehicle bodies is disclosed. The molding preferably, slidably receives clips at spaced locations along its length, wherein the clips have adhesive at their rear face. A desired amount of adhesive is selected for the particular molding, and spacing between the clips along the length of the molding is determined to achieve a desired adhesive area. In preferred embodiments of the present invention, the clip is configured such that it is slidably received within channels on the molding, and has a unique structure which provides sufficient amounts of material of the molding to the vehicle body.

摘要: A method of applying a roof membrane assembly to a roof deck. The method includes the steps of providing a roof membrane assembly including a first roof membrane and a second roof membrane. The first roof membrane has at least one longitudinally extending edge and the second roof membrane overlaps the first roof membrane and is bonded along at least one longitudinally extending edge of the first roof membrane to define a membrane flap having a longitudinally extending edge. The roof membrane assembly is then positioned upon the roof deck and at least one roof membrane fastening device is positioned over the first roof membrane and beneath the longitudinally extending membrane flap and secured through the first roof membrane and into the roof deck. The longitudinally extending edge of the membrane flap is then bonded to the first roof membrane.
