Abstract: A method for producing a hot-rolled clad composite material may involve cleaning surfaces of multiple flat products, at least one surface of which has a natural unevenness. The cleaned surfaces may then be connected and brought into contact by stacking the flat products. The flat products may then by regionally welded to create a flat product package. The method may further involve heating the flat product package to an initial hot-rolling temperature, hot-rolling the flat product package to form a hot strip, and either cutting the hot strip into plates or sheets or coiling the hot strip to form a coil.

Abstract: Some examples include welding a first workpiece to a second workpiece. For instance, the first workpiece may be secured adjacent to the second workpiece. At least one of the first workpiece or the second workpiece includes a channel or a portion of a channel in a respective surface such that a complete channel is presented when the first workpiece and the second workpiece are secured adjacent to each other. A rotating tip of a welding tool is inserted into the complete channel for welding the first workpiece to the second workpiece. A surface burr resulting from the welding is located within the complete channel.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and a system for additive manufacturing of a complex metal part by sheet lamination, and belongs to the field of manufacturing. A three-dimensional data model of a part is sliced into metal sheets, the metal sheets are molded, and each metal sheet is combined into the part by using diffusion welding or friction welding. A diffusion welding or friction welding technique is introduced in additive manufacturing, so that a production capacity of additive manufacturing is further expanded and supplemented, so as to manufacture parts with higher precision and better finish quality.

Abstract: A friction-welded ground assembly that includes an alloy substrate with a clearance hole; an aluminum alloy weld nut having a bolt bore and an outer wall; and a grounding bolt. The bore is located substantially within the clearance hole and a portion of the outer wall is joined to the substrate at a friction-welded attachment. Further, the bolt is threaded within the bore. In addition, a method for making a ground includes the steps: rotating an aluminum alloy weld nut having an outer wall at a predetermined speed; lowering the outer wall of the rotating nut into contact with an aluminum alloy substrate to generate a frictional force for a friction time; arresting the rotation of the nut; and applying an axial forging force to the outer wall and the substrate for a forging time.

Abstract: The invention relates to a strip consisting of an aluminum material for producing components with improved bending behavior and exacting shaping requirements, a method for producing the strip and the use of sheets produced from the strip according to the invention. The strip has a core layer of an AlMgSi alloy and at least one outer aluminum alloy layer arranged on one or both sides, made from a non-hardenable aluminum alloy, wherein the at least one outer aluminum layer has a lower tensile strength in the (T4) state than the AlMgSi layer, wherein the strip has a uniform strain (Ag) in the (T4) state of more than 23% transverse to the rolling direction and, at a thickness of 1.5 mm-1.6 mm, achieves a bending angle of less than 40° in a bending test.

Abstract: Additive friction stir methods for joining materials are provided. The methods comprise providing first and second substrates to be joined; providing a forming plate comprising one or more forming cavities; placing the first and second substrates in communication with the forming plate; placing the first and second substrates in communication with each other; rotating and translating an additive friction-stir tool relative to the substrates; feeding a filler material through the additive friction-stir tool; deforming the filler material and the first and second substrates; and extruding one or more of the filler material and the first and second substrates into one or more of the forming cavities of the forming plate. Interaction of the friction-stir tool with the substrates generates plastic deformation at the joint to weld the substrates at the joint. The methods include introduction of reinforcing material at the joint through addition of the filler material.
