摘要： A cassette for a printer for supplying mobius loop ink ribbon to the print head which includes a means for inking the ribbon as it is returned to the cassette and a means for storing the ribbon by randomly stuffing the ribbon in convolutions therein. The cassette also includes a driving means located between the inking means and the storage means for storing the ribbon through the cassette as the print head traverses the record media. In the embodiment disclosed, this driving means includes a one-way clutch actuatable by means carried by the print head. An important aspect resides in the intallation of the cassette in the printer in that there is no direct interengaging of the driving means with the printer so that the position of the print head at the time of installation of the cassette is immaterial. The disclosure also includes new and improved pulley guides for the ribbon as it is being transported to and from the cassette.

摘要： A hammer is movable to strike paper against a rotatable type member through a ribbon for printing. The hammer is moved for printing by a rotary shaft formed with a projection which engages with the hammer upon rotation of the shaft. A rockable ribbon guide holds the ribbon which has upper and lower portions provided with different colors of ink. A setting lever is pivotally connected to the ribbon guide in such a manner that rocking movement of the setting lever produces rocking movement of the ribbon guide. The setting lever is formed with two engaging portions with which latch members of two solenoids are respectively engagable. A spring urges the setting lever toward a reset position. A first one of the solenoid latch members is arranged to hold the setting lever in a first set position at which one of the colors on the ribbon is in a printing position. Actuation of this first solenoid releases the setting lever so that it is moved by the spring to a second set position at which it is held by a second of the solenoid latch members, the other color of the ribbon being in the printing position. Actuation of this second solenoid releases the setting lever so that it is moved by the spring to the reset position. The projection of the shaft is engagable with the setting lever in the reset position to return the setting lever to the first set position. A ribbon drive shaft is integral with a ratchet, a pawl being reciprocatable to advance the ratchet. A cam fixed to the type member reciprocates the pawl through a rocker linkage to advance the ribbon upon rotation of the type member.

摘要： A head-driving and ink ribbon feeding mechanism for an ink-transfer thermal printer comprises a print carriage mounted for parallel and non-rotational movement in a direction parallel to the platen of the printer. A support element carrying a thermal print head at a free end thereof is pivotally mounted on the carriage and is normally resiliently biased to press the thermal print head against the platen in a head-down position. Mechanical actuating means are switched selectively between a first position for advancing a thermo-ink ribbon in a cartridge received on said carriage past the thermal print head in the head-down position and to a second position in which the drive for the ribbon is disengaged and in which the elongated support element is engaged and pivoted to switch the thermal print head to a head-up position.
