摘要: An improved control and jam detection system for an apparatus for sorting documents including transport means, a plurality of modules, each module having a plurality of trays for storing documents, each tray having an inlet located along the document path and a deflector member associated therewith and adapted when actuated to route said documents from said transport means into the tray. The system comprises program means to actuate an individual one of said deflector members to route said documents into a selected tray in predetermined sequence, sensing means for sensing presence and absence of a document at predetermined locations along said document feed path and providing corresponding presence and absence indicating signals, and circuit means coupled to said transport means including a timing means responsive to said signals and providing an input to control the transport means whereby upon the occurrence of a jam the transport of documents into each of the modules is stopped and the document input supplied to an overflow tray until another signal from said program means is received at which time the apparatus is shutdown.

摘要: Method and apparatus for assembling sheets of printing media for booklets. In one aspect the sheets are folded, sheet-by-sheet, and in another aspect the sheets are collected, sheet-by-sheet, and registered on a fold in each sheet. In still another aspect printed sheets are loaded, sheet-by-sheet, into the apparatus. Each sheet is trimmed to a pre-determined width depending on the position of the sheet in the booklet being assembled. The sheets are thereafter folded, sheet-by-sheet, and collected into a stack. The method and apparatus have particular application in finishing duplex printed sheets of paper into saddle-stitched booklets.

摘要: A duplicating system for producing collated copy sets from precollated information. The precollated information is stored on a reversibly driven and reversibly developed web member which is driven past a first copy transfer station when moving in a first direction and past a second copy transfer station when driven in a reverse direction. A development station is positioned in the path of the web to develop the precollated information thereon when the web is moving in either direction. Copy sheets are fed by a first transport past the first transfer station to produce copies thereof when the web is moving in a first direction. Copies are fed by a second transport past the second transfer station to produce copies from the developed web member when the web is moved in a reverse direction. The copies are fed to a first copy receiving tray face down when the web is moving in one direction and to a second copy receiving tray face up when the web is moving in a reverse direction. In this manner, two stacks or sets of copies are reproduced in collated order from the precollated information on the web. Upon repeating the steps of the duplicating process additional copy sets in precollated order can be obtained. The web may take the form of a lithographic master, a magnetic tape, flexographic master or a xeroprinting master.

摘要: The apparatus for conveying printed products has a feeding device which conveys the printed products to a discharge end. The gripper circulatory path of the gripper conveyor moves with the receiving section past the latter. During movement through the receiving section, the grippers use their gripper mouth to grasp the printed products and convey said products further. If the receiving section is located in the central position with respect to the feeding device, the printed products are grasped centrally and conveyed further. If, by contrast, the receiving section is displaced by means of the adjustment device into a side position, the printed products are grasped eccentrically and guided further.

摘要: A device for providing folded products utilizes a funnel-shaped structure that consists of at least two funnels that are usable for providing two longitudinally folded strands or webs. A register device is usable for adjusting a path of at least one of the strands or webs between the funnel and the entrance to a folding machine. The register device can be associated with both of the strands or webs.

摘要: The dual former (1, 2) apparatus includes a central housing and support (7) within which is retained a central common drive train (8). Located symmetrically with respect to a center line (21) through the housing and support (7) are respective transport roller units (9-12), cutting cylinder units (13, 14) and distribution apparatus units (15, 16; 27, 28), all driven from the common drive train (8). Some (9, 10) of the units may be cantilevered from the central housing and support (7), others (11, 12, 13, 14) have their remote ends journalled in bearing plates (17, 18) secured to the central housing structure (7) while still others (15, 16, 27, 28) are journalled in bearing plates secured on a base (6) which can also support the central housing structure, for example by being a metal element to which the central housing structure is welded. Delivery of folded, cut and separated printed subject goods is, preferably, laterally of the central housing structure. The open arrangement is compact and provides for excellent accessibility of all components of the respective units for service or interchange, and, if necessary, coupled adjustment of rotary speed by exchange of gearing in the drive train accessible in the central common housing structure.

摘要: A sheet processing apparatus includes a sheet tray on which one or more sheets to be processed are placed, an adhesive applying unit, and a pressing member. The adhesive applying unit has an end portion that faces the sheet tray and holds an adhesive material and is configured to move towards the sheet tray up to a position at which the end portion is in contact with or proximate to a sheet on the sheet tray and apart from the sheet tray. The pressing member is configured to move into and out of a moving path of the adhesive applying unit. The pressing member is pressed against a sheet on the sheet tray by the adhesive applying unit, when the pressing member is in the moving path of the adhesive applying unit and the adhesive applying unit moves towards the sheet tray.
