Abstract:
An accessory tool for use on a tire changing machine when operating on custom alloy wheels is disclosed which clamps onto the tongue portion of the usual tire changer rotatably driven center post which is normally used to rotationally drive a slotted tire tool. The accessory tool has the capability of positioning a tire mount/demount head radially and axially relative to the wheel rim and of securely clamping the mount/demount head in such selected position. Moreover, the clamping action for positioning the mount/demount head automatically lifts the head away from the rim surface to assure no contact between the head and the edge of the wheel rim when the accessory tool is rotated by rotation of the tire machine center post to mount or demount a tire bead over the edge of the rim.
Abstract:
A tire changing tool (20) including a tool body (24) having a head (26) for performing a tire changing operation. The head has a first surface (32) for engagement with the bead of a tire and a second surface (34, 38, 42) adapted to face a wheel (36) to have a tire mounted thereon or demounted therefrom. A magazine (52) is provided which receives a solid abrasion eliminating material (58) and an opening (48) is provided in the second surface (34, 38, 42) and extends to the magazine. A feeding rod (60) is provided for feeding the material (58) from the magazine (52) through the opening (48).
Abstract:
The mechanism comprises a rotatable central shaft with pinion, racks engaging said pinion at two different levels and a change on the outside end of each rock for gripping the wheel, which clamps lie in the same plane.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for laying a pneumatic tire around a wheel rim by a mounting unit which is moved along the wheel rim.According to the invention at least one pair of mounting units is moved with equal speeds along the wheel rim in opposite directions through angles, which together form an angle of substantially 360.degree..The invention further relates to an apparatus for laying a pneumatic tire around a wheel rim using the method wherein a mounting unit is movable along the wheel rim.According to the invention at least one pair of mounting units is provided, which are movable with equal speeds in opposite directions along the wheel rim and which together cover an angle of substantially 360.degree..
Abstract:
An apparatus for mounting pneumatic vehicle tires, the beads of which, in the mounted state, are disposed on the radially inner periphery of a wheel rim. The apparatus permits simple and rapid mounting of a tire. A mounting unit which, after the introduction of a portion of the tire bead in a recessed portion of the rim, fixes the bead portion. A drivable roller, which in operation engages in the bead region of the tire, has a circumferential speed which is greater than the rolling speed on the tire.
Abstract:
The invention provides a machine for automatically fitting tires to rims, comprising a continuously driven endless conveyor (1), a first feed device (3) provided at the entrance of the conveyor for placing rims (A) one after the other flat on the carrier side (4) thereof, a second feed device (5) situated downstream of the first one for placing a tire (B) of corresponding size aslant on each rim, a tire-fitting head (6) situated downstream of the second feed device for fitting the tire to the rims, and means (7) for discharging the tired rims. This machine is characterized in that it comprises adjustment means (16) disposed upstream of the tire-fitting head (6), for automatically and continuously bringing the upper face of rims (A) to a constant predetermined height with respect to the carrier side (4) of the conveyor (1).
Abstract:
The present apparatus is for fitting and removing an automobile tire from a wheel and by which it is possible to adjust the tool at a desired distance from the wheel. This apparatus comprises a rotatable table mounted on a frame and including jaws radially movable for gripping a wheel, means for rotating said table and for radially moving said jaws, a column extending vertically from said frame, an arm movable transversally in the column and fitted obliquely and slanting down towards the wheel, a vertical rod carried by and vertically adjustable in height in this rod, a tool carried by the bottom end of said rod for fitting and removing the tire, and means acting between the arm and the vertical column for moving and locking said arm.
Abstract:
The present device is for detaching the beads of a tire which adhere to a wheel rim more particularly of heavy vehicles, whereby the wheel is held between a mobile stabilizer shield of an upright fixed frame and an upright mobile backing support and whereby a pressure plate is provided of an in the fixed frame in a vertical plane pivotally suspended pressure cylinder adjustable in height. After the beads are detached, the tire is removed from the wheel by the use of another known device.
