    摘要: A vehicular headlamp capable of moving an auxiliary light distribution pattern in the horizontal direction by pivoting an auxiliary lamp fixture unit in which degradation in the visibility of the road surface ahead of the vehicle caused by movement of an auxiliary light distribution pattern is substantially reduced. The brightness of a low-beam light distribution pattern formed by a headlamp unit is partially reinforced with auxiliary light distribution patterns formed by a pair of auxiliary lamp fixture units. When the vehicle turns, one of the auxiliary light distribution patterns is moved in the same direction with an upward displacement, whereby sufficient visibility ahead of the vehicle is assured. As a result of this movement, the hot zone of the auxiliary light distribution pattern is separated from the hot zone of the low-beam light distribution pattern. Since the hot zone is moved on the road surface at a distance from the vehicle, the illumination intensity of the hot zone on the road surface ahead of the vehicle is reduced. Accordingly, the road surface ahead of the vehicle will not become relatively dark in a region between the hot zones of the basic and auxiliary light distribution patterns due to contrast with the hot zones.

    摘要: A head light system for a vehicle using a discharge lamp together with glare stop structure provides a low beam mode and a high beam mode. The head light system includes a discharge lamp (4) mounted on a base plate (1), a shade (7) for selectively and partially shading light source (5) of the discharge lamp (4), and a moving means (K) for sliding said shade (7) relative to the discharge lamp (4) along an arrow (X) in a longitudinal direction of the discharge lamp (4). The shade (7) has a leg (7b) which penetrates the base plate (1), and the leg (7b) is coupled with an iron piece (9) in a solenoid (8) which is fixed to a rod (6) fixed under the base plate (1). The iron piece (9) is urged by a spring (10) so that shade plane (7a) of the shade (7) partially covers the light source (5) of the discharge lamp (4) when the solenoid is not energized so that low beam mode is provided. When the solenoid (8) is energized and pulls the iron piece (9) against the spring (10), the shade (7) slides so that said light source (5) is free from the shade plane (7a) to provide high beam mode.

    摘要: A device for compensation of voltage drop at light sources of a vehicle has light sources having a resistance R0 and connected to a vehicle battery. An auxiliary charging device with electric motor is provided. The electric motor has an on/off switch and is connected to the vehicle battery. The electric motor is connected parallel to the light sources. A resistor is serially connected upstream of the light sources and is selected, based on the resistance R0, such that a nominal current I flowing through the light sources causes a voltage drop &Dgr;E=I×R in the resistor that matches a voltage drop occurring when the electric motor is switched on. A first switch is connected parallel to the resistor for short-circuiting the resistor when the electric motor is switched on by the on/off switch.

    摘要: A vehicular lamp which employs one or more projector lamp units and which is capable of preventing a reflector from being deformed by weight-induced strain while achieving and maintaining required light distribution characteristics. In one embodiment, the vehicular lamp includes first and second lamp units provided with respective reflectors, light sources, and projection lenses, with each lamp unit being tiltably supported on a lamp body via brackets formed separately at least from the reflectors. The brackets are tiltably supported at fulcrums the lamp body. Even in a case where stresses resulting from the weights of the lamp units are applied to bearings to the fulcrums, the stresses can be attenuated or absorbed by the brackets and the reflectors of the lamp units are not strained. Thus, the reflectors are prevented from being deformed, and the lamp units can achieve desired light distribution characteristics.

    摘要: In a headlamp having a single filament bulb or discharge bulb, there is provided a movable shade that can appear from a reflection mirror located above the single filament bulb. In a usual condition, the movable shade is pulled at the back of the reflection mirror located above the single filament bulb. Then, a light emitted from the single filament bulb is condensed by the reflection mirror and irradiates a very long distance thereby to make a high-speed traveling possible. On the contrary, when it is rainy or foggy, the movable shade is protruded in the front of the reflection mirror. Then, a part of a light emitted from the single filament bulb is shielded by the movable shade, and the road surface in 20-40 m front of the vehicle is darkened thereby to reduce surface reflection from the road surface.

    摘要: A bulb shield for use in an automotive headlamp assembly, and a method for making same. The bulb shield includes a cup portion and a portion which extends from the cup portion and is configured for mounting to a reflector of the automotive headlamp assembly or to another, proximate structure. When the bulb shield is mounted, the cup portion is preferably generally horizontally aligned with a headlamp bulb in the automotive headlamp assembly, thereby eliminating a “hot spot” which would otherwise be viewable when looking into the headlamp beam. Preferably, at least a portion of the cup portion of the bulb shield is electro-formed. Such a bulb shield is relatively inexpensive and easy to make, yet can withstand the high temperatures which are typically experienced in an automotive headlamp assembly. Additionally, such a bulb shield can be inexpensively provided, yet meet precision requirements. Still further, such a bulb shield provides enhanced design flexibility and styling consistent with plastic molding.

    摘要: A projection type lamp is disclosed that includes a semi cylindrical lens portion having a focus line oriented in a horizontal direction. Similar to spherical lens portions can be formed at the right and left side of the semi cylindrical lens portion to produce a projection lens having a relatively long horizontal diameter. The lamp includes a reflector that has a first focus point in the vicinity of the light source of the projection type lamp and a second focus point in the vicinity of the focus line in the vertical cross-sectional view. The reflector can include a free curved surface for adjusting light rays emitted from the light source to a predetermined illuminating angle. The semi cylindrical portion of the lens does not function optically in the horizontal direction such that light distribution patterns can be easily determined and manipulated by the reflector.
