摘要： A braking system, particularly for use in a motor vehicle includes a hydrodynamic retarder having a stator blade wheel and a rotor blade wheel. A line system through which flows a working fluid of the retarder includes the retarder as well as a cooler. The retarder further includes an inlet throttle and/or an outlet throttle. Measures are taken to keep the braking momentum of the retarder below the full value during the turning on of the retarder.
