摘要: An emergency arrest device for a zip line is disclosed. The device uses a rope wound around the zip line, e.g., in a double helix, as the “core reactor” that provides stopping force. The device receives the ends of the wound rope and controls the position of the rope and tension within the rope to create and modulate the stopping force. Specifically, the device may comprise a front plate, a rear plate assembly, connecting members connecting the front plate and the rear plate assembly, and a movable carriage. The rear plate assembly includes a first receiving structure adapted to receive and secure one end of the rope. The moveable carriage is mounted within the emergency arrest device between the front plate and the rear plate assembly and carries a second receiving structure adapted to receive and secure the other end of the rope.

摘要: A rail coaster operates as a cross between a roller coaster and a zip line. A rail may be suspended under a frame by flexible cables or solid brackets. The rail may turn, incline, decline, or twist, but need not twist to still provide a “rolling” degree of freedom for a rider. An eddy current brake provides proportional braking as a function of speed. A cam-adjustment-axle (eccentric) carries certain wheels to provide finely divided, discrete, but incrementally small adjustments of idler wheel clearances to accommodate variations in the rail, wheel wear, and onsite adjustment of tolerances for curvature, unevenness, and friction. A “static universal” bracket provides adjustment in four degrees of freedom, three of translation and one of rotation in securing a rail to a supporting frame.

摘要: A first conveyance arrest system includes a trolley arrest cylinder comprising a piston rod mechanically coupled a trolley receiver. The trolley receiver engages a conveyance trolley, displaces the piston rod and pressurizes a working fluid within the trolley arrest cylinder. A second conveyance arrest system includes a conveyance trolley slideably coupled to a conveyance guide, and a trolley arrest cylinder mechanically coupled to the conveyance trolley. The second conveyance arrest system also includes a conveyance stop configured to engage a stop engagement end of a piston rod and thereby pressurize fluid within the trolley arrest cylinder in response to movement of the trolley toward the conveyance stop.

摘要: A portable zip line emergency brake system intended to stop or slow down a zip liner (or load) on a cable while giving the control to the device user or operator on the opposite end of the zip line. As an out of control rider comes down the zip line the operator will lock the device onto the cable and roll it out onto the zip line using a combination of sending force by the operator and gravity to meet the rider's pulley. The device is adjustable for different riders' estimated weights. Once the rider's pulley comes in contact with the device far out on the cable it will use a lever camming action between two brake pads on the cable as it reverses direction. As the brake is engaged it will stop or slow the rider. The operator can then pull the rider to the end safely.

摘要: An emergency arrest device for a zip line is disclosed. The emergency arrest device is designed to tension and control a slide-and-grip knot, such as a Prusik knot, that is tied on the zip line. The device includes a mirror-image set of sidewalls, a front endwall connected between the pair of sidewalls at a front end of the device, and a rear endwall connected at a rear end of the device. The front and rear endwalls have openings sized to permit passage of the zip line therethrough. A tail fixation assembly including a clamp is mounted in the rear of the device. A knot-body control assembly is mounted in the front of the device. The knot-body control assembly includes arms that are resiliently biased to push the body of the slide-and-grip knot rearwardly when the device is impacted.

摘要: Emergency egress systems carry multiple riders simultaneously accessing zip line catenary from higher, inaccessible, working locations to lower, safer areas. Hangers above the track line suspend trolleys to avoid weighting the catenary unduly at the high end, which might otherwise alter (reduce) clearance distances and safety of riders above a launch platform (deck). Catenary shape is controlled against approaching a launch deck by sequencing the release from the hangers of each trolley to roll along the catenary with its own rider. Autonomous braking, inter-trolley bumpers, and vertical stabilizers enable each rider to quickly occupy a seat (harness, etc.) and launch onto the track line, unconcerned with riders ahead or behind until underway. Multiple trolleys may thus load, launch, and in close proximity on a single line, regardless of the total weight of multiple riders.
