Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a camera, a non-vision sensor and a control having at least one data processor. The camera is disposed at a vehicle and views at least forward of the vehicle. The non-vision sensor is disposed at the vehicle and senses at least forward of the vehicle. The control, responsive at least in part to processing at the control of captured image data and captured sensor data, determines a fault of the camera or of the non-vision sensor. Responsive to determination of the fault of the camera or of the non-vision sensor, the control wirelessly communicates an alert to a remote processor that is located remote from the vehicle and that is not part of the vehicle. Responsive to receipt of the communicated alert, the remote processor at least in part assumes control of the vehicle.

Abstract: A system for monitoring and controlling shopping cart usage comprises a wheel assembly that attaches to a shopping cart. In some embodiments the wheel assembly includes a wheel, a brake that can be activated to inhibit rotation of the wheel, a controller that controls the brake, a VLF receiver, and an RF transceiver. The RF transceiver may, for example, operate in a 2.4 GHz frequency band. In some implementations, the RF transceiver may be used to detect entry of the shopping cart into a checkout area of the store, and the VLF receiver may be used to detect that the shopping cart is exiting the store. The controller may activate the brake if the shopping cart attempts to exit the store without first passing through a checkout area.

A localized data collection module may retrieve, receive, or intercept traffic data through or from hardware installed in a traffic control cabinet adjacent an intersection or other roadway feature of interest. Data which may have previously been confined to a closed loop traffic control system may be remotely accessible for traffic operations control or monitoring via a network connected server and/or cloud architecture.

Abstract: A method of vehicle operation includes, using one or more processors, receiving one or more inputs, from one or more sensors of a first vehicle and/or one or more sources communicatively coupled with the one or more processors, while the vehicle is traveling on a vehicle route. In implementations the one or more inputs are used to determine a distance between the first vehicle and a second vehicle and this distance is used as an input to a power management system to increase an energy efficiency of the first vehicle while traveling on the vehicle route. In implementations the one or more inputs and data regarding regenerative braking of the first vehicle are used to calculate one or more speeds and a power management system applies the one or more calculated speeds to the first vehicle. In implementations a reliability estimate is calculated for the one or more calculated speeds.

Abstract: A vehicular control system includes a camera sensor, a radar sensor and a control having a processor that processes image data captured by the camera sensor and radar data captured by the radar sensor to detect another vehicle and to determine an estimated time to arrival of the other vehicle at a location on a road being travelled along by the other vehicle that is in the projected path of travel of the equipped vehicle. Responsive at least in part to (i) determination that the equipped vehicle will arrive at the location before the estimated time to arrival of the other vehicle at the location elapses, and (ii) determination that an object is not present in the projected path of travel of the equipped vehicle, the control determines that it is safe for the equipped vehicle to proceed along the projected path of travel.

The one or more processors determine a plurality of optional routes existing between a first location of the first vehicle and a future destination of the first vehicle. Using the one or more inputs, the one or more processors predict a vehicle route by predicting which of the optional routes the first vehicle will take to get from the first location to the future destination.

Abstract: A brake control system and method for autonomous vehicle control that includes a first brake pedal connected to a first brake arm, the first brake arm is connected to a first brake shaft, the first brake shaft extends a length between an upper end and lower end and includes a first actuator that expands and contracts in length. The lower end of the first brake shaft is operably connected to a first brake mechanism. An autonomous control system having a controller with microprocessor, memory and instructions is connected and controls operation of the first actuator. When the first brake shaft expands in length the first brake mechanism is engaged by the lower end of the first brake shaft thereby applying the brakes. The first brake mechanism is operable by depressing the first brake pedal in manual operation mode as well as by controlling the first actuator in autonomous operation mode.
