Abstract: A passenger seat which includes a seat bottom chassis assembled from a plurality of leg modules attached to fixed, spaced-apart attachment points on a supporting surface, and a plurality of beam elements for being carried by the leg modules. A plurality of clamp joints are positioned on a first side of the leg modules in a first laterally-offset relation thereto in a first spaced-apart relation to the attachment points of the supporting surface and for receiving the plurality of beam elements for defining a ladder frame assembly having a first specified width and seat spacing. The plurality of clamp joints are removable from the first side of the leg modules can positioned on a second, opposite side of the leg modules in a second laterally-offset relation for defining a ladder frame assembly having a second specified width and seat spacing while the plurality of leg modules maintain the same position relative to each other and thus to the fixed, spaced apart attachment points whereby the location of the seats may be altered while using the same beam elements.

Abstract: An aircraft seat includes a seat cushion and a seat back. The seat cushion has a rear portion along the seat back and a front portion of complementary shape to the rear portion to form a complete seat cushion. The rear portion moves between a raised position and a lowered position. A coupling arrangement connects the front portion to the rear portion so that when the front portion is in the raised position along the seat back the front portion is in the lowered position, in which at least part of it is retracted under the rear portion. When the rear portion is in its lowest position along the seat back the front portion is in a raised, advanced position at the same height as the rear portion to form therewith the seat cushion of the seat for receiving a seated passenger.

Abstract: A seating space such as an aircraft passenger cabin has rows of seats along an aisle, identified by a row number and a seat location letter. A seat row indicator is arranged on the side flank of the seat back of each aisle seat, at the corner where the side flank and upper edge of the seat back meet. A seat location indicator is arranged at the middle of the upper edge of the seat back of each seat. The row numbers and seat letters are indicated on or in the indicators by paint, printing, engraving, inserts, illumination or tactile indicia. The indicators are conspicuous and easily visible to a passenger standing or walking in the aisle without bending or leaning over. Boarding of the aircraft is facilitated and expedited. Emergency evacuation is assisted by appropriate illumination of the indicators.

Abstract: Multiple-position seating units, methods for operating seating units, and methods for installing seating units are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the seating unit includes a first seat portion and a second seat portion. The first seat portion has a first upper surface with a front extremity. The first seat portion can be moveable between first and second positions. In the second position, the first seat portion is tilted forwardly downwardly. The second seat portion has a second upper surface that can be configured to support at least one shin of a person. The second seat portion can be moveable between a stowed position and a deployed position. In the deployed position, the second upper surface is spaced apart from the front extremity of the first seat portion.
