摘要： An indicator for continuously indicating the status of a media stack in a media tray is disclosed. This indicator functions independently of a media stack support in a printer. The indicator includes an indicator lever and a probe member. The indicator lever is pivotably mounted and can be tilted between two predetermined extreme positions. The probe member has a shaft which is also pivotably mounted. An engaging arm extends from the shaft. In operation, the shaft is tilted according to the status of the media stack in the media tray. As the shaft is tilted, the engaging arm engages the indicator lever, tilting the indicator lever to a position between the two extreme positions to indicate the status of the media stack.

摘要： A method and a system for controlling cycle up and cycle down operations of a printer device that includes a plurality of individual transport, where each transport defines a section of an overall path for the medium and performs a process relative to the medium as it passes therethrough. A sensor associated with each transport provides information indicative of its operation including a signal indicating whether or not a medium is present within its paper path section. A controller is operatively associated with the transports to receive such information produced by the sensor, and based thereon, to control the transports during cycle up and cycle down sequences.

摘要： A paper return device detachably fitted to an image forming apparatus having a paper feeding port for feeding paper from outside the image forming apparatus, a paper transport mechanism for transporting the paper from the paper feeding port to an image forming unit and a paper output port from which the paper carrying an image formed by the image forming unit is ejected to the outside of the image forming apparatus. The paper return device includes a paper return guideway which connects the paper output port of the image forming apparatus to its paper feeding port when the paper return device is fitted to the image forming apparatus, whereby the paper ejected from the paper output port is fed back to the paper feeding port through the paper return guideway.

A conveying member conveys the document to a preselected reading position. A discharging member drives the document read out of the device. A discharge sensor senses the trailing edge of the document at a position adjoining the discharging member. When the discharge sensor senses the trailing edge of the document being discharged by the discharging member, a controller interrupts the operation of said discharging member. When the insertion sensor senses the next document after the discharging member has nipped the trailing edge of the preceding document, the controller inhibits the conveying member from conveying the next document.
