    摘要: Methods of recovering coal combustion products (CCPs) from coal combination byproducts are disclosed. The methods include compiling coal combustion byproducts (e.g., lignite coal and/or bituminous coal), grinding the coal combustion byproducts to form ground coal combustion byproducts with a maximum particle size of 40 microns, and separating the ground coal combustion byproducts to yield CCPs using an electrostatic precipitator. The following CCPs can be separated from the coal combination byproducts using the presently disclosed methods: fly ash, bottom ash, scrubber materials, and raw coal.

    摘要: Processes are provided for preparing basic aluminum compounds of Formula I:Al.sub.2 (OH).sub.6-a X.sub.a (I)wherein X is Cl.sup.-, Br.sup.-, F.sup.-, I.sup.-, SO.sub.4.sup.= or NO.sub.3.sup.- and a is about 0.9 to 4, the compound being characterized by size exclusion chromatography as having a Band I percent aluminum value of about 5% or less and a Band II percent aluminum value of about 50% to 90%, which comprise (a) suspending an aluminum metal in an aqueous medium to form a slurry, (b) applying ultrasonic energy to the slurry, (c) reacting the sonicated slurry with an aluminum compound of Formula IIAl.sub.n X.sub.m (II)or an acid of Formula III:H.sub.n X (III)wherein X is Cl.sup.-, Br.sup.-, F.sup.-, I.sup.-, SO.sub.4.sup.= or NO.sub.3.sup.-, n is 1 or 2 and m is 3, at a temperature of about 45.degree. C. to 100.degree. C. to form a reaction product.

The latter is treated with gaseous SO.sub.2 in water, the solution obtained is treated by a liquid-liquid extraction, to give an aqueous phase and an organic phase and the magnesium and/or nickel sulphite is recovered from the aqueous phase. With this process, it is possible to obtain a magnesium salt of high purity.

    摘要: There is disclosed a method wherein sulfur dioxide contained in combustion exhaust gas is absorbed in an aqueous alkali sulfite solution to produce a corresponding alkali bisulfite and the resultant aqueous alkali bisulfite solution is added with calcium carbonate to form calcium sulfite, the method comprising wet-powdering the calcium carbonate into a particle size within a range of 0.1 - 30 .mu. in a slurry form by the use of a part of a filtrate which is obtained by separating calcium sulfite from the reaction solution, and re-using the remainder of the filtrate as an aqueous alkali sulfite solution for absorbing sulfur dioxide, whereby substantially no waste water is discharged out of the reaction system and sulfur dioxide can be recovered in the form of highly pure calcium sulfite.

    摘要: This specification discloses a method of producing petroleum from a petroleum-bearing formation. A heated fluid is generated in a heated fluid generator that is fired with a sulfurcontaining fuel and the heated fluid is injected into the petroleum-bearing formation and petroleum is produced therefrom. The firing of the heated fluid generator with the sulfurcontaining fuel produces a flue gas which contains sulfur oxides. The flue gas is passed through an emission scrubber vessel in counterflow with an alkaline water containing calcium ions to scrub the sulfur oxides from the flue gas, to reduce the alkalinity of the alkaline water and to form calcium sulfite. An oxidation inhibitor is added to inhibit the oxidation of the calcium sulfite. The scrubbed flue gas and the water of the reduced alkalinity are discharged from the emission scrubber vessel and the calcium sulfite is separated by mechanical means from the water of reduced alkalinity.

    摘要: Sulfur oxides, particularly sulfur dioxide, present in waste gas streams are separated therefrom by contacting the sulfur oxides with a sodium sulfite-sodium bisulfite extraction liquor having a pH of at least 6, regenerating a portion of the sulfur oxidescontaining extraction liquor by adding calcium hydroxide thereto to raise the pH of the liquor to about 8 to 10, removing a calcium sulfite precipitate from the regenerated extraction liquor, and mixing the solids-free regenerated extraction liquor with the sulfur oxides-containing extraction liquor to maintain its pH of at least 6.
