摘要: Random propylene thermoplastic copolymers can be used to increase the elongation to break and toughness of thermoplastic vulcanizates. Semi-crystalline polypropylene is a preferred thermoplastic phase. The rubber can be olefinic rubbers. Random thermoplastic polypropylene copolymers are different from conventional Ziegler-Natta propylene copolymers as the compositional heterogeneity of the copolymer is greater with Ziegler-Natta copolymers. This difference results in substantial differences in properties (elongation to break and toughness) between thermoplastic vulcanizates modified with random thermoplastic propylene copolymers and those modified with conventional Ziegler-Natta propylene copolymers. An increase in elongation to break results in greater extensibility in the articles made from a thermoplastic vulcanizate.

摘要: The invention provides for a process of making a compatibilized blend composition produced by mixing general purpose rubbers (GPR), selected from natural rubber, polyisoprene, polybutadiene, nitrile rubber, poly(styrene-co-butadiene) and poly(acrylonitrile-co-butadiene), a copolymer of isobutylene and methyl styrene, and a multifunctional agent. The compatibilized blend composition may also be cured.

摘要: A method for making a polymer blend composition includes combining at least one component A incorporating at least five percent by weight of anionic functional groups in its structure, at least one component B, preferably free of such functional groups, and at least one component C, which is a metal cation. The composition is melt-processed to produce in-situ a reaction product of the anionic functional groups of component A with the metal cation to form a pseudo-linked crosslinked structure of component A in the presence of component B. In the composition formed by the method, Components A and B can form interpenetrating or semi-interpenetrating networks. The method allows for greater flexibility in preparation of polymer compositions than methods previously known.

摘要: The present invention relates to shape deformable materials, which are capable of (1) being deformed, (2) storing an amount of shape deformation, and (3) recovering at least a portion of the shape deformation when exposed to electromagnetic radiation (EMR) energy. The shape deformable materials can advantageously be in the form of films, fibers, filaments, strands, nonwovens, and pre-molded elements. The shape deformable materials of the present invention may be used to form products, which are both disposable and reusable. More specifically, the shape deformable materials of the present invention may be used to produce products such as disposable diapers, training pants, incontinence products, and feminine care products.
