The silver reclamation system includes a body containing a plurality of metallic members positioned within a flow chamber and a metallic mesh contained within the body. The photographic solution contacts the plurality of metallic members and the metallic mesh material thereby causing silver contained within the photographic solution to plate these members. Also, the metallic members cause silver in the photographic solution to crystallize. The crystallized silver can then be contained within a filter for processing.

    摘要: A precious metal recovery system utilizing an amalgamation process which results in substantially complete recovery both of the precious metal sought and of the mercury utilized in the process. Mercury has undesirable health and environmental characteristics and the system of the invention assures its substantial containment. In the operation of the system, ore is classified and sorted out into a plurality of bins or holds containing ore having a substantially uniform particle size. The ore is then delivered, bin by bin, beginning with the smallest particle size, to apparatus which assures substantially complete amalgamation of all of the precious metal present in the ore. Thereafter, a resulting slurry of water and tails is first removed from the amalgamation apparatus and any residual mercury removed before its return to the environment. At the end of a period of operation of the amalgamation apparatus, the mercury and precious metal amalgam mixture together with any residual tails are drawn off and subjected to three separation operations. First, the mercury and precious metal amalgam mixture is separated from any residual tails. Next, the mercury is separated from the precious metal amalgam. Finally, the mercury is removed from the amalgam thereby resulting in a reasonably pure form of the precious metal.

    摘要: A process for extracting metals having lead affinity from mineral ores. The process is in steps including, pulverizing the ore material, drying the ore, melting elemental lead in a melting chamber and maintaining the molten lead within a preselected temperature range, introducing the ore into the lower portion of the melting chamber, agitating the molten mixture, transferring the molten mixture to a cooling vessel, removing the slag and refining the remaining metallic mixture to separate the metallic components. Also, a device for extracting metals from ores including a melting chamber, heating means, an ore tube and an auger for inserting ore into the melting chamber and an agitation rod. The process and device are utilized for either small scale assaying of ore samples or commercial extraction of metals from mineral ores.

    摘要: A metal, especially silver, may be recovered from its alloy with lead by a method comprising injecting, into the molten alloy, an oxygen-containing gas to oxidize the lead to form lead oxide slag and removing the slag from the molten metal. The oxygen-containing gas is injected into the molten metal through an elongate consumable lance which extends lengthwise of itself from the interior to the exterior of the furnace and which is capable of being fed lengthwise from the exterior to the interior of the furnace through the guide tube as the lance is consumed in the furnace. The lance comprises a first elongate tube for the oxygen-containing gas and a second elongate tube located annularly about the first tube, for a coolant gas. A gas is also injected through the guide tube into the furnace to seal the lance. Also disclosed is a furnace suitable for use in the method.

A pair of partition walls extend inward and downwardly in parallel relation transversely of the housing to form a water channel downstream tortuous path characterized by return bends with each wall of the pair of walls respectively attached to the inner surface of the housing opposing side walls intermediate their height to define fluid compartments at opposite sides of the housing. The water channel discharges the water into one of the fluid compartments.

    摘要: An improved apparatus for recovering silver from a silver-containing solution. The device includes a container having influent and effluent passageways and a filler element composed of a metal above silver in the electromotive force series. The filler is disposed about an elongated core having an aperture in the side thereof. The filler may be formed of steel wire wound in the fashion of a spool about the core. One or more baffles may be situated within the filler to extend the length of the path taken by fluid flowing from the influent passageway through the filler to the core and then through the effluent passageway. Solution flowing through the filler reacts therewith so that silver is deposited within the container. An opening may be provided in the top of the container to permit viewing of the contents to determine whether the capacity of the container has been exhausted or whether the device is operating properly. The inlet and outlet passageways may be situated on the side of the container to provide easier connection and disconnection from the user's equipment. A bypass may be provided within the container to permit flow of the solution from the influent passageway to the effluent passageway in the event of clogging or other defects within the container.
