The different weaving materials comprise reactive materials or combined materials produced by an intermittent splicer. The different apparatuses include finishing devices for introducing organically-shaped lateral edges and interior apertures, and three-dimensional effectors for introducing three-dimensional aspects into a product as it is being woven. Weaving methods include simultaneously weaving fine denier panels and coarse denier panels.

The invention relates to a loom comprising a warp thread tensioning device and a shedding device (12), which comprises pre-tensioned warp threads (4) in a first shedding position (F1). The pile warp tension control method involves setting a first pile warp tension amount for a pile weave section weaving mode for use in weaving a pile weave section, and setting second pile warp tension amounts for ground weave section weaving modes, respectively, for use in weaving ground weave sections, where the second pile warp tension amounts are higher than the first pile warp tension amounts. The control method further involves gradually increasing the tension of the pile warp yams from the first pile warp tension amount toward a selected one of the second pile warp tension amounts in a predetermined period after the change of the operating mode of the pile fabric loom from the pile weave section weaving mode to the ground weave section weaving mode. The control method next involves adjusting the tension of the pile warp yarns to the selected second pile warp tension amount after the end of the predetermined period.

Any desired terry cadence can be produced in any desired sequence without stopping the loom and changing mechanical control and actuating means. Pile height can also be varied as required. The terry loom has at least one servomotor as a separate drive. The system comprises a cloth fell position compensation circuit (2, 16, 21) which outputs a cloth fell compensation signal (.DELTA..omega..sub.c) to compenate a displacement (.DELTA.L) of the cloth fell position (C) when a weaving condition such as a target weft density (D*), a target warp tension (T*) or the kinds of weft and warp yarns is changed. The cloth fell compensation signal is added to a basic warp feed rate (.omega..sub.f) obtained from D*, so that the displacement motion of the cloth fell is completed in a shorter time. According to this compensation, a weft density of a resultant fabric rapidly coincides with the target weft density.

Motor-driven let-off and take-up motions in a loom are controlled by controlling the rotation of a motor for driving warp yarns with a tension control system operating in response to a signal indicative of a target tension and a feedback input signal indicative of an actual tension of the object during a normal operation of the loom, and controlling the rotation of the motor with a feedforward control system during a transient operation of the loom, the feedforward control system storing operation patterns of directions, and speeds of rotation and angular displacement of the motor for respective operation modes and weaving conditions of the loom. At the time of the transient operation, and operating condition of the loom is detected, an appropriate operation pattern is read from the feedforward control system based on the detected operation mode, and the read operation pattern is applied as a control signal to a drive control system for the motor.
