The invention provides a vehicle motion control device capable of realizing optimum avoidance control in the case of an emergency. The vehicle motion control device includes an external environment detection unit for detecting external environment, and a travel state detection unit for detecting a travel state of a driver's vehicle. An obstruction is detected based on the external environment detected by the external environment detection unit, and an environment map indicating obstructions is created. A control device estimates a plurality of possible avoidance actions for avoiding an obstruction based on the environment map and the travel state of the driver's vehicle detected by the travel state detection unit. The control device estimates collision damage according to each avoidance action estimated by the avoidance action estimation unit, and selects an appropriate avoidance action based on the estimated collision damage. The control device controls a vehicle such that the selected avoidance action is carried out.

A warp detector is disposed on a loom so as to have a warp presence/absence detection region located at a front or rear side and in the vicinity of a reed which serves for beating a weft inserted through a shedding formed by the upward/downward motion of healed frames against a cloth fell. The presence or absence of abnormalities in respect to the positions at which warps are inserted through the reed is identified on the basis of detection information available from the output of the warp detector. Detection timing for the warp detection information is so established as to fall within a period during which the loom is stopped, so that the presence or absence of errors in respect to the warp insertion can be detected before the loom is restarted.

The system comprises a cloth fell position compensation circuit (2, 16, 21) which outputs a cloth fell compensation signal (.DELTA..omega..sub.c) to compenate a displacement (.DELTA.L) of the cloth fell position (C) when a weaving condition such as a target weft density (D*), a target warp tension (T*) or the kinds of weft and warp yarns is changed. The cloth fell compensation signal is added to a basic warp feed rate (.omega..sub.f) obtained from D*, so that the displacement motion of the cloth fell is completed in a shorter time. According to this compensation, a weft density of a resultant fabric rapidly coincides with the target weft density.

An apparatus for inserting a weft into a shed by jetting fluids in a jet loom comprises a plurality of thin plate-like members arranged in alignment in the direction of weft insertion on a sley, each of the thin plate-like members being provided with an opening in the same position of each of said thin plate-like members to form a guiding channel, and nozzle means for jetting fluids through the guiding channel. Each of the thin plate-like members is provided with at least one cavity which is formed adjacent the circumference of each of the openings of the thin plate-like members on a downstream sidewall, in the direction of weft insertion, of the mutually facing sidewalls thereof. Due to the formation of the aforesaid cavity, the amount of the fluid flow escaping through the space between each two adjacent thin plate-like members outside of the guiding channel without narrowing the width of the space therebetween. As a result, the flight of the weft is remarkably stabilized and the flying speed of the weft is increased with reducing the consumption of fluids jetted from nozzle means.
