摘要： A positioning pin which permits a sewing machine cabinet to be adapted to accommodate a variety of sewing machines. The positioning pin has a flange dividing the pin into two unequal lengths. The positioning pins are received by bores formed in the base of the sewing machine and the cabinet work surface to properly locate the sewing machine with respect to the work surface. The pins may be reversed end-for-end to adapt to sewing machines having bases with differing heights.

摘要： A cabinet and work table for a sewing machine having a convertible work supporting bed capable of conversion from a flat work supporting bed to a free-arm bed. The cabinet work supporting surface is divided into two parts, a fixed rear work supporting surface and a laterally/vertically shiftable front work supporting surface. The sewing machine is supported in the cabinet with the work supporting bed forwardly of, contiguous with and spaced above the rear work supporting surface. The shiftable front work supporting surface may be shifted from a first position co-planar with the rear work supporting surface, wherein the sewing machine may be used in a free-arm mode, to a second position co-planar and contiguous to the work supporting bed of the sewing machine for the flat bed sewing mode, wherein the front work supporting surface augments the flat work supporting bed of the sewing machine.

摘要： A mechanism for mounting a free arm sewing machine in a work cabinet such that the machine is selectively supported in an upper work position wherein the free arm is positioned above the work surface of the cabinet, a lower work position wherein the free arm is substantially flush with the cabinet work surface, and a storage position wherein the machine is disposed completely beneath the work surface in a space efficient manner. The assembly comprises a base or platform to which the machine is mounted, a rear pivot arm rotatably secured to the platform and to the cabinet, a front pivot arm also pivotally secured to the platform and to the cabinet, and a pair of stops mounted to the cabinet and positioned within the vertical planes of rotation of the front pivot arms so that the front pivot arm and platform are supported against gravity in the lower use position. The stops include cam surfaces which enable the sides of the front pivot arm to ride over them when the machine is raised from the storage position. In order to lower the machine from the lower work position to the storage position, the machine and platform are tilted so as to urge the front and rear pivot arms to positions which are mutually coplanar thereby causing a binding action to occur which pulls the front pivot arms inwardly over the stops and enables the platform to drop to the storage position.

摘要： A sewing machine cabinet having a sewing machine support platform pivotable about a fixed axis from a stored position within the cabinet to a substantially horizontal operative position where it is locked in place by means of a pair of bolts mounted on opposite sides of the platform, and received within sockets formed on corresponding keepers pivotably mounted on brackets secured on the cabinet side walls. Each keeper includes three cam surfaces, two of which are effective to rotate the keeper in a first direction when acted upon by respective bolts. A spring secured to each keeper to oppose the rotation of keeper in the first direction until the keeper rotates to a position where the spring swings over-center and thereafter aids turning the keeper in this direction. The third cam surface is effective to turn the keeper in the opposite direction to that of the first two cam surfaces. As the platform is pivoted into the operative position the bolts engage the first cam surface and rotate the keeper against the bias of the springs. When the bolts are above the sockets the springs return the keepers to the normal positions and the platform may be lowered to position the bolts into the socket. To store, the platform is pivoted upwardly until the bolts engage the second surface rotating the keepers until the springs have moved over-center. The platform is then moved downwardly free of the sockets and engage the third surface to rotate the keepers into their original position.

摘要： A sewing machine which in the preferred embodiment includes a hinged stretch bar regulatably biased for applying pressure against a fabric being fed through centralizing slots in a vertical face plate, the bar having an angular side serving to centralize the strip fabric within the slots such that the fabric is fed along a central line extending longitudinally through the fabric across the horizontal platen plate beneath the needle mechanism, the bar being also laterally adjustable and the slots being laterally adjustable for modifying or correcting the central feed line beneath the needle mechanism, the adjusting means including an adjustable nut having female threads matedly mounted on a threaded male projection extending through the biasing spring for controlling biasing pressure against the stretcher arm and additionally the regulating means including an extendable shaft means for shortening or lengthening the leverage by axial movement of the shaft, and as a part of the control of automatically moving the fabric across the plate in the centralized position at a proper rate of movement together with reduced variations in movement of the needle shaft, there is included between a driving cam rotatably mounted on an off-set portion of a driving cam and at an opposite end the mechanism reciprocally driving the toothed feed dog for advancing the fabric beneath the needle, is an adjustable shaft axially adjustable by regulation of a nut around the adjustable shaft, and the variations in needle reciprocation and depth of penetration being reduced by an adjustable pivot axis and by the lever pivoted on that axis being connected at its terminal end to a drive shaft which is centrally flexible and which at the terminal end connected with the pivoted lever mounted in a ball socket for free multi-directional movement and the other end of the flexible drive shaft being mounted for reciprocal axial movement on ball bearings around an off-set portion of a main rotatable drive shaft, undesirable variations in the reciprocating movement of finger and spreader hooks being reduced by replacing the meshing gears between a primary drive shaft and a secondary drive shaft with a belt having along its inner surface a plurality of treads meshable with corresponding teeth on each of the opposing toothed wheels on the respective shafts.
