摘要： A sewing needle is used in a sewing machine. The sewing needle has a working portion with a needle eye and a region which tapers into a needle tip. The needle eye passes through a needle body in a transverse direction perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the needle body. A twist groove is recessed in a front face of the needle body relative to the outer contour of the needle body, the twist groove extending in the direction of the needle tip from the needle eye. The twist groove is formed by a thread groove. The twist groove is preferably symmetrical relative to a first longitudinal central plane spanned by the longitudinal axis and the transverse direction. The thread groove has a groove portion adjacent to the needle eye and two end portions, each having a thread groove opening, remote from the needle eye.

The needle is used to route and secure the band through a fabric garment and through aperture portions of a button. The band is then secured to the backing clip to hold the button against the fabric. The system obviates the need for a conventional needle and thread to attach the button.

摘要： A manually operable needle threading device comprises a housing having a recess for positioning the eye of a needle to be threaded in alignment with the path of a displaceable thread pusher member in the housing, whereby displacement of the pusher member from a retracted to an extended position pushes a portion of a thread between the needle and pusher member through the needle eye. The pusher member displaces the portion of thread between gripping fingers on the housing which hold the thread portion upon displacement of the pusher member from the extended to the retracted position. The portion of thread remains attached to the threading device upon separation of the needle therefrom until a loose end of the thread passes through the needle eye to complete the threading operation, after which the thread portion is released from the threading device. In one embodiment the housing is of pistol-like configuration facilitating handling and operation of the threading device.

摘要： A looper for a tufting machine for producing cut-pile has a base portion, a forward hook-shaped end and a yarn engaging portion around which a loop of yarn is formed extending between the base portion and the forward end, the yarn engaging portion having smooth contours adjacent only the forward end of the looper, the remainder of the length of the yarn engaging portion having a cutting edge formed thereon for effecting the cutting upon cooperation with an independently operable cutting blade of at least one of a series of accumulated loops collected on the yarn engaging portion. Thus, any catching, cutting or breaking of the loop of yarn before being cut by the cutter blade is avoided.
