摘要: A mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall system that permits water drainage through joints while also preventing undesirable migration of backfill through joints, thus dramatically reducing or eliminating undesirable vegetation by incorporation of a free draining seal (FDS) in panel joints, wherein the FDS structure blocks backfill but permits water migration.

摘要: The automated, rotary retractable dock will have the elevated structural skeleton of a regular or seasonal dock. This includes the pilings and cross members. The pilings will support guide tails running (track-like) between them. The pilings will also be fixed with cross bars, and rollers which will partially support the material that will serve as the dock surface as it is extended or retracted. This dock surface “material” can be a wooden, metal or plastic, interlocking grating which will be wound up at the land-ward end of the dock/bulkhead, in a housing unit. Wheels or rollers will be placed periodically along the side of the grated decking material. On one or both ends of the structure, an electric winch will pull the dock surface material out across the structure (water-ward) and on the other end, retract it (land-ward). The system will have both land-ward and water-ward “on/off” switches and a remote control.

摘要: A wall retention system for abutting against and retaining a mass of earth, comprising in combination: (a) a set of flat facing slabs, each facing slab having an outer flat surface and an inner, reinforced surface. The facing slabs are edgewisely interlocked to form a single continuous wall structure. Foundation slabs abut on the ground, and support the lower portions of the facing slabs wherein the facing slabs are supported in generally upright condition. A number of elongated brace bars are provided, integrally carried at their inner ends by the facing slabs reinforced surface and transversely projecting therefrom at vertically spaced intervals. These tension members embeddingly anchor into the mass of earth to be retained. Hence, large horizontal loadings from the mass of earth can be sustained by the wall retention system, without compromising the angularity of the facing slabs relative to ground level.

摘要: A roller machine and method for installing a flexible panel into a trench including a frame, a prime mover connected to the frame, and a plurality of rollers positioned on the frame. The plurality of rollers defining a curved path of travel for the panel. The path of travel has an entry and an exit. The path of travel is nearly vertical adjacent to the exit above and adjacent to the trench. The prime mover is drivingly connected to at least one of the plurality of rollers. The plurality of rollers includes a plurality of support rollers extending across the frame and having an adjustable length generally corresponding to a width dimension of the panel and a plurality of guide rollers arranged in aligned pairs. The guide rollers are positioned adjacent opposite ends of the support rollers and are arranged adjacent to the exit of the path of travel. The path of travel extends between each of the aligned pairs of guide rollers. The frame is supported by a plurality of wheels so as to allow the frame to be moved adjacent to and along the length of the trench. The guide rollers are configured to accept and conform to the edge of the panel or to the interlocking connector attached to the panel. The exit position of the guide rollers is adjustable so as to enable the interlocking connector to engage a mating connector on a prior installed panel.

摘要: A hazardous waste containment system for preventing the lateral migration of hazardous fluid substances (including both liquid and gas wastes) into the water table, particularly for sites which are located over a fluid impermeable strata of clay (20) or the like. The system uses an encircling (FIG. 7) barrier containment wall comprising a plurality of slidingly engaged, interlocked, vertical barrier members (3) which extend down to and sealingly interface with the underlyng fluid impermeable strata. The barrier members are slidingly engaged via interlocking male and female appendages (1 and 4), which mate and form a vertically extended chamber (33), which a fluid impermeable seal (7) is formed. A method for implementing the invention where caving is a problem includes the augured excavation of a series of adjacent, overlapping, vertical holes (18, 18a) of prescribed depth and width and/or diameter in the soil surrounding the area to be contained and extending down to the underlying strata, installing the vertical barrier wall in the holes, and sealing the joints formed by each connection and back-filling the holes. Two and three slotted guide boxes ( 15; FIG. 1; FIGS. 8c and 8d) are used to position and join adjacent sets of barrier members and prevent caving in of the surrounding soil. The method further includes the utilization of a sealant (25) at the base of the containment wall to prevent leaching under it (FIG. 2). The systems may be used to contain a variety of materials and may be implemented in various soil conditions with similarly successful results.
