摘要： A method comprising a step to form a hole (2) for charging a breaking substance (4) into an object to be fractured (1), a step to insert a pair of electrodes (6) having a thin metal wire (5) connected between ends thereof into the hole (2), a step to dispose the breaking substance (4) and the thin metal wire (5) into a bag-like container (22) made of rubber at a stage to supply electric energy accumulated in a capacitor to the electrodes (6) for fusing and vaporizing the thin metal wire (5), thereby swelling a volume of the breaking substance (4) and breaking the object to be fractured (1), and a step to fit the bag-like container (22) into the hole (2). This method assures secure transmission of an expansion force to the object to be fractured even when the hole formed in the object to be fractured is deformed.

摘要： A rock crushing device according to the present invention is designed to crush rocks by the use of the expansion pressure generated when an elastic expandable member of a cylindrical configuration is expanded by pressure fluid to be injected into looped pockets provided within the elastic member. The elastic member, made of rubber or similar materials, is provided tightly to cover around a metal shaft having a fluid passage to introduce pressure fluid into the looped pockets of the elastic member.

摘要： An insert for a cutting tool has a conical cutting tip, and axially behind the cutting tip is a mid-section. Behind the mid-section is a cylindrical base. Where the insert is for use on a tool of a milling machine, the base has a diameter of at least 0.800 inch so as to be considerably larger than the standard base of inserts currently in use on such machines. The enlarged base protects the tool body to which the insert is attached from washaway. The invention is useable in other industries employing rotary cutting tools. In other industries, the insert is made with an enlarged diameter base so as to protect the tool body behind the insert from erosion or washaway. Indentations in the outer circumference of the base improve the rotation of the tool and provide channels through which loosened particles of hard material are directed, thereby further reducing erosion of the tool body.

摘要： A rock fragmentation device and method is provided which includes a shaft and a plurality of expandable members positioned along a length thereof. The shaft has a hollow length therethrough for the passage of a pressurized fluid, and a plurality of feed apertures for delivery of the pressurized fluid to the expandable members. The shaft further includes a feed inlet for receiving the pressurized fluid from a hydraulic system. The plurality of expandable members each have an inner diameter dimensioned to receive the shaft in a tightly engaging connection, and are positioned on the shaft in fluid tight engagement effective for receiving pressurized fluid via the feed apertures without leaking fluid. The expandable members are expandable, upon filling with the pressurized fluid, to sufficient dimensions to break apart rock when fitted inside a cavity formed therein.

摘要： A pressure actuated fracture tool for use in splitting and fracturing hardened material, such as rock, stone, concrete and the like, having two expansible outer shells designed to move in opposition to each other along a selected axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the tool. The outer shells define a central orifice extending longitudinally to length of the tool. An elastomeric tubular member is positioned in the central cavity between two longitudinally fixed end connectors. Upon the application of pressure to the tubular member, the outer shells expand outwardly in a determined radial diversion to contact the wall of a cavity bored in the hardened material and cause the material to cleave or split.
