摘要： A system for mine roof reinforcement includes a bearing plate and a tubular member with an inner surface, an outer surface, first and second free ends, and an enlarged portion disposed proximate one of the free ends. The system also includes a projectile and an insertion member for being received in the tubular member. In addition, a method for inserting a bolt in rock includes: forming a borehole in rock; placing a bearing plate with an opening therein against the rock so that the opening is aligned with the borehole; disposing a tubular member in the borehole and opening so that an enlarged end of the tubular member abuts the plate; and mechanically expanding the tubular member so that an outer wall thereof frictionally engages the rock.

The mine roof bolt includes an elongated member having a cross-sectional diameter less than that of the bore hole, a first end, and a second end. The elongated member has deformations such that axial tension on the bolt results in axial movement between the elongated member and the grout and results in confined compression of the grout between the bore hole and the elongated member surface to facilitate anchorage of the elongated member with grout to the mine rock in which the bore hole is disposed. 摘要： This invention is directed to a method of re-tightening or re-tensioning a roof bolt in an underground mine. Specifically, the method and apparatus claimed herein serves the purpose of enabling the operator to place tension between the head of a permanent, epoxy-secured, roof bolt and the base plate of a standard roof bolt system used to effect primary roof support in an underground mine. The method and apparatus have particular utility in mines in which drawrock or localized crumbling of shale of soft rock material is encountered as the first layer of material in the mine roof. The apparatus consists of a slotted screw member and slotted nut combination. A second embodiment of the apparatus is comprised of a slotted nut, slotted screw member and one or more slotted spacers to be oriented between the roof bolt head and base plate. The members are turned with the appropriate tightening tool such as to apply pressure between the base plate and roof bolt head, thereby re-tensioning the roof bolt. The method of the present invention includes the steps outlined above for placement and use of the apparatus in an underground mine.

摘要： A ground retention apparatus is provided for deterring the theft of services from an outdoor pedestal. The ground retention apparatus includes a ground stake having a first end attached to the pedestal and a second end opposite the first end for engaging the ground beneath the pedestal. The ground retention apparatus further includes a stop plate secured to the ground stake medially between the first end and the second end. The stop plate defines a hinge line separating a lower portion that is stationary and an upper portion that is movable relative to the lower portion between a first position wherein the upper portion is generally parallel to the lower portion and a second position wherein the upper portion is angled relative to the lower portion. The stop plate prevents the ground stake from being removed from the ground, thereby deterring unauthorized access to the equipment inside the pedestal.
