    摘要: An air-driven dual diaphragm pump comprises a pump body with a first air passage leading to a first air cavity with a first diaphragm, a second air passage leading to a second air cavity with a second diaphragm, and a reciprocating shaft which connects the first and second diaphragms. A diaphragm installation tool for the dual diaphragm pump comprises a plate which fits atop the pump body. A groove in a surface of the plate opposite from and nonadjacent to the pump body extends from the location of the first air passage to the location of the second air passage. A hole located within the groove at the location of either the first air passage or the second air passage extends through the plate. Pressurized air entering the pump body is redirected by the groove and the hole to always enter the first air passage, rather than the second, thereby slowly filling the first air cavity and positioning the second diaphragm for installation.

    摘要: A piston and geared rack assembly are moved by pressurized air in opposite directions within a power cylinder housing as the vehicle operator registers door closing and opening commands in a solenoid valve. This lateral movement is converted to rotary movement by a pinion gear driven by the rack and coupled to turn a spindle shaft which drives the door. At full stroke during door closing, the power piston actuates a valve to charge the lower chamber of an auxiliary cylinder to move a lift piston rod, movable within the spindle shaft, to raise the closed door into a locked position. Upon a door-open command, the solenoid valve exhausts the charged cylinder chambers, admits air into the upper chamber of the auxiliary cylinder to move the lift piston and rod to lower and release the door, and slowly charges the associated opening chamber. This enables the delayed movement of the power piston and rack assembly in the opposite direction, reversing the rotation of the pinion and spindle shaft, to open the door. If air pressure is lost with the door closed and locked, the weight of the door forces the lift piston and rod down, releasing the door from its locked position for emergency manual operation.

    摘要: Means and method of substantially increasing the efficiency of a spark ignition Otto cycle engine. This is done by increasing the stroke length of the pistons and reducing the amount of air (or fuel/air mixture) by means other than the throttle plate taken in on the intake stroke. The amount of air or fuel/air mixture taken in is that which creates the same conditions in the combustion chamber at the conclusion of the compression stroke as exist in prior art engines used for the same application. The advantage arises from the increase in the length of the power stroke; this extracts more energy from the combustion gases before they are removed on the exhaust stroke and it also increases the torque of the engine as it is well known that torque is a function of stroke length. Extracting more energy from the combustion gases also reduces the amount of heat transferred to the engine block, thereby reducing the load on the cooling system.
