摘要: A limiter cap assembly of a carburetor for a two cycle engine restricts maximum and minimum fuel amounts. The limiter cap assembly has a first cap engaged telescopically to the end of a low speed needle valve and a second cap engaged telescopically to the end of a high speed needle valve. The first and second caps are identical, each having a first tab and a second tab. The first tab sets the maximum fuel amount by contacting the adjacent cap and the second tab sets the minimum fuel amount by also engaging the adjacent cap. The first and second tabs are axially spaced apart so as not to obstruct rotation of the adjacent cap via the adjacent tabs. A housing having a lid encompasses the first and second caps. The caps each have a plurality of projections which engage an inner edge of the lid, thereby, provisionally staging the caps to the carburetor while final needle valve adjustments are made.

摘要: An internal combustion engine including a cylinder, a crankshaft, a reciprocating piston disposed in the cylinder and operably coupled to said crankshaft, and a carburetor. The carburetor includes an airflow passage through which varying amounts of air flows; a variably positioned throttle valve located in the airflow passage, the amount of air flowing through the airflow passage being varied in response to the position of the throttle valve; a source of stored liquid fuel; a well containing liquid fuel and in independent fluid communication with the source of stored liquid fuel; a nozzle extending between the liquid fuel contained in the well and the airflow passage, the nozzle having an outlet located upstream of the throttle valve in the airflow passage, a variable amount of the liquid fuel contained in the well being conveyed through the nozzle to the airflow passage in response to the amount of air flowing through the airflow passage; and an idle circuit in independent fluid communication with both the source of stored liquid fuel and the well, the idle circuit containing liquid fuel and having at least one fuel outlet located in the airflow passage downstream of the throttle valve, a variable amount of the liquid fuel contained in the idle circuit being conveyed to the fuel outlet in response to the amount of air flowing through the airflow passage. The engine may also include a governor mechanism by which the throttle valve is positioned in response to the speed of the crankshaft.

摘要: A carburetor fuel mixture adjustment assembly including a threaded cylindrical needle valve receptacle formed in a carburetor main body and intersecting a fuel passage. A needle valve body is threaded into the needle valve receptacle and includes a needle that extends into an axially-aligned needle seat orifice portion of the fuel passage. The needle is axially movable within the needle seat orifice by rotation of the needle valve body to control how much of the orifice is open to fuel flow. A valve spring disposed between a head of the needle valve body and the carburetor main body biases the head away from the carburetor main body. A needle stabilizer engages and cooperates with the valve spring in laterally biasing the needle into one position relative to the needle seat orifice. The lateral bias assures constant fuel flow through the orifice by resisting needle movement.

摘要: A tamper resistant mixture adjustment screw arrangement for a carburetor. The arrangement includes a carburetor body having at least one air/fuel adjustment screw threaded therein. The adjustment screw has a threaded shank and a head portion. The head portion is defined by a smooth top surface and an undulant, uneven side surface capable of being engaged and mated by an adjusting tool having a complementary undulant, uneven side surface capable of being engaged and mated by an adjusting tool having a complementary undulant, uneven surface for initially adjusting the air/fuel mixture in the carburetor. A blocking curb extends from the carburetor body to a level which at least substantially corresponds to a projecting extent of each adjustment screw and being closely spaced to the screw head to prevent the screw from being turned by commonly available tools, but to permit the screw to be adjusted by the adjusting tool.

摘要: A carburetor fuel mixture adjustment assembly has a threadable holder which suppresses rotation of a needle valve body disposed within an elongated receptacle defined within a carburetor body. The threadable holder is rigidly engaged within a threading chamber of the receptacle. During assembly, the needle valve body is extended through a bore of the holder as a threading portion of the valve body rotateable cuts an interior threading groove into the threadable holder. The threadable holder is held rigidly within the threading chamber by the carburetor body. A sealing holder is disposed within the receptacle axially inward of the threadable holder and is prevented from rotating within the receptacle by the threadable holder. A stem holder portion of the sealing holder assures a needle portion of the needle valve assembly remains concentrically disposed within an outlet orifice of a fuel chamber of the receptacle. A shank holder portion of the sealing holder engages radially between a shank chamber wall of the carburetor, which axially defines a shank chamber of the receptacle, and the shank portion of the needle valve body disposed concentrically to and axially inward of the threading portion. Engagement of the shank holder portion prevents air from entering through the receptacle and into the sub-atmospheric fuel chamber, thereby assuring stable fuel flow through a fuel passage intersected by the fuel chamber and stable engine operation.

摘要: A cover is installed over an engine adjuster such as a carburetor adjustment screw. This cover is in the form of a cap having a flat top with a frangible brim portion. The cap is installed in a housing for the adjustment device, in a recess directly above the adjustment device. An inner rim is formed on the cap beneath the flat top with a recessed portion being formed between the top and the rim. The inner rim of the cap matingly engages a rim which may be formed in the top portion of the adjuster or in a housing surrounding the adjuster and snaps into place joined to either the adjuster or its housing. An anti-pry protective washer or shoulder is provided in the housing. This anti pry device is positioned in close proximity to the outer wall of the inner rim of the cap in a manner to prevent prying instruments from reaching under the inner rim in an attempt to remove the cap. When attempts are made to reach under the cap, the frangible brim portion is likely to break providing evidence of attempted tampering.

The throttle valve is movable to adjust the quantity of a fuel and air mixture supplied to an engine. 摘要: A fuel needle valve assembly of a carburetor has a retainer which yieldingly restrains the rotational fuel flow setting capability of the needle valve. The retainer engages a shank of the needle valve and a parallel shaft, both of which project from the carburetor body. The retainer exerts a force which laterally displaces the projecting shank with respect to the shaft. The retainer has sufficient strength to ensure the factory set rotational setting of the fuel needle valve does not alter when a limiter cap is press fitted to a distal head of the needle. Furthermore, wherein the shaft is also a shank of a second needle valve, the same retainer laterally displaces the projecting shanks of both needle valves.
