    摘要: A rotation transmission device is provided which is used to selectively transmit a power. The aim is to stabilize the frictional torque when the rotor of an electromagnet absorbs an armature. A retainer is mounted between the inner member and the outer member and formed with a plurality of pockets and engaging elements are mounted in the pockets. An armature is mounted so as to be nonrotatable but axially movable relative to the retainer and a rotor is mounted to the inner member or the outer member so as to axially oppose to the armature. An electromagnet attracts the armature to the rotor, thereby changing the phase of the retainer to bring the engaging elements into engagement with the outer periphery of the inner member and the inner periphery of the outer member, and transmitting a turning torque between the inner member and the outer member. When the armature is attracted to the rotor, the large-diameter portion of the armature is attracted to the rotor.

    摘要: A transmission has only a single, minimal orbiter in which an input gear and an output gear, each being connected to separate input and output shafts, are interconnected through an orbiting cluster gear that meshes with only the input and output gears. The cluster gear is carried by a web that is itself rotated by a hydraulic control motor through a first clutch. When rotation of the web is prevented, rotation of the input gear produces rotation of the output gear at a predetermined reduction of the input drive, this gear reduction being continuously diminished proportional to the speed of rotation of the web in a first direction. When the vehicle reaches highway speeds, the control motor is disconnected and a second clutch is activated to connect a predetermined overdrive that is located between the engine drive and the transmission rather than being conventionally positioned between the transmission and the final output shaft.

    摘要: There is provided an apparatus for determining a failure of an electromagnetic clutch, which is capable of properly determining whether or not a failure, a typically a layer short-circuit, has occurred due to a change in a resistance value of a solenoid coil of the electromagnetic clutch. The electromagnetic clutch is configured such that the engagement force thereof is varied according to an amount of current flowing through the coil. An output control value for control of the amount of current is calculated by feedback control such that an actual amount of current actually flowing through the coil becomes equal to a desired amount of current. A predetermined reference control value is stored which defines a standard for the output control value and has a standard relationship with respect to the amount of current. The actual amount of current is detected. The calculated output control value is compared with the predetermined reference control value corresponding to the detected actual amount of current. It is determined based on a result of the comparison by the comparison means whether or not the electromagnetic clutch has failed due to a change in a resistance value of the coil of the solenoid thereof.

A magnetic path generated around an electromagnet of the electromagnetic type clutch mechanism includes a clutch magnetic path in which a magnetic flux passes to reciprocate plural times across th friction clutch, and diamond-like carbon surface treatment is given on a part or all of the friction contact surfaces of the friction clutch to form a hard amorphous carbon film thereon. Thus, the transmission device can be constructed using a smaller number of the outer and inner plates for the electromagnetic type clutch mechanism, so that it can take a small construction with a longer durability life.
