    摘要: In a transmission comprising an endless silent chain and a sprocket the inside tooth faces of the link plates of the chain are identical to tooth profiles, arranged axially, of a hob cutter for forming teeth of the sprocket. The inside and outside tooth faces also satisfy Hi=Ho+Hs, where Hi is the distance from a pin center line Lp to a pitch line Li of the inside tooth faces, Ho is a distance from the pin center line to a pitch line Lo of the outside tooth faces, and Hs is the amplitude of polygonal motion of the chain. Each link plate also has a concave bottom surface between its teeth to avoid interference with edges of the involute teeth arising due to the chain polygonal motion amplitude when the outside tooth faces are brought into meshing engagement with the involute teeth and become seated thereon.

    摘要: An endless link chain, particularly for use in a continuously variable transmission in the power train of a motor vehicle, has composite links and pintles which articulately connect neighboring links to each other. At least one of the links is assembled of at least two types of parallel plate-like components which differ from each other in size, shape, material and/or strength. The purpose of such selection of the plate-like components is to enhance one or more characteristics of the chain, for example, to reduce or eliminate vibration, to reduce the bulk and/or to properly position the pintles. The distribution of components in one or more links can be selected with a view to influence the above-enumerated and/or other characteristics, such as the resistance to deformation, of the chain.

    摘要: A retainer subassembly for a master link of a chain includes a cover plate, a pair of snap rings and a strap plate. The cover plate includes a pair of stepped recesses terminating in openings adjacent the outer face of the cover plate for receiving the spaced pins of a master link. Snap rings having radially inwardly extending and axially outwardly inclined tangs are disposed in the recesses. A strap plate overlies the inside face of the cover plate. To apply the retainer subassembly to the master link, the holes through the retainer subassembly are aligned with the pins and the retainer subassembly is pushed onto the pins. Once the flanges of the snap rings pass the ends of the pins, the flanges resiliently snap into the annular grooves of the pins retaining the retainer subassembly on the master link.

    摘要: A drive chain suitable for use in a continuously variable transmission of a motor vehicle, the transmission having two pairs of spaced drive members about which the chain passes to transfer torque from one drive member to the other. The chain includes a plurality of link elements that include spaced, side-by-side plate links. The plate links include openings in which pairs of parallel rocker members are disposed for relative rocking movement of at least one rocker member about its longitudinal axis. The rocker members extend outwardly beyond the plate links and are retained in position by retaining members that engage particular rocker members. A method for stretching the chain is also disclosed in which areas of some of the plate links are plastically deformed before the chain is put to use.

    摘要: A silent chain for use with a sprocket has a plurality of interleaved rows of link plates connected together in an endless fashion, each link plate having a pair of teeth. Each of the teeth has an inside flank and an outside flank surface merging at a tip of the tooth. The inside flank has a smooth contact surface which is smaller in width than the smooth contact surface of the outside flank surface. The point where the link plate starts to move into contact with the tooth flank of the sprocket is set to locate in an area having the smooth contact surface at a relatively high rate of occupancy. With this arrangement, noise occurring at the mesh between the link plate and the sprocket can be reduced. The point where the meshing engagement completes is set to locate in an area having the smooth contact surface at a relatively high rate of occupancy. This arrangement improves the wear resistance and fatigue strength of the link plate.

    摘要: A power transmission chain belt has a rocker joint to reduce power transmission loss and to reduce the surface pressure acting on the connecting pin while maintaining bendability of the entire chain. The chain is formed of multiple inner links, each having a pair of pin apertures. The links are interleaved in the transverse and longitudinal directions and are connected by connecting pin inserted in pin apertures. The connecting pin includes a center pin. Arranged at the center of pin aperture are curved faces of which at both of its ends contact pulley friction surface and of a pair of rocker pins, which are arranged on both sides of center pin in the pin aperture and which are shorter than the center pin. In addition, the outer link is arranged on the outside of outermost inner link and step part of center pin is press-fitted into a pair of pin apertures in outer link.
