The separation unit (15) has a pressure sensing chamber (23) for sensing the pressure within the separation unit (15), a separation chamber (24) in fluid communication with the pressure sensing chamber (23), and a combustion chamber (26) in fluid communication with the separation chamber (24). The combustion chamber (26) is in fluid communication with the launch tube (16) through opening (28). The rocket launcher (10) also includes a hydrogen separation circuit (21) and an ignition circuit (22). The hydrogen separation circuit (21) includes a battery pack (44) electrically coupled to a fuel cell (45) which when powered separates water into hydrogen gas and oxygen gas. The ignition circuit (22) includes a piezoelectric spark generator (61) for igniting the hydrogen gas produced by the fuel cell and contained within the combustion.

    摘要: The passive dynamically disconnecting arm features an arm having two ends wherein attached to the first end is a housing having both a plunger and an electrical connector providing positive engagement force during shock or vibration. The second end of the arm features a trunnion and torsion spring. The arm features a slot wherein a rod is placed inside operatively coupled to both the plunger and trunnion. When an object is attached to the electrical connector, the spring-loaded plunger compresses preventing the rod from moving and causing the second end of the rod to couple with a divot within the trunnion. When the object moves a predetermined distance, the spring-loaded plunger decouples from the rod and the electrical connector detaches from the object. The arm, by means of a torsion spring attached to the arm's second end, translates and rotates out of the object's path without striking the object.

    摘要: An elastomeric disk for use in an elastomeric ejection system in which a thickened curvature protrudes from both sides of a central plane of the disk. Integral to each curvature is an annulet which dovetails from the curvatures to a periphery of the disk. The thickness of the annulet in regard to the central plane is greater on the fluid pressure side of the disk thereby shifting material strain to the center of the disk during expanding deformation. The annulet shape is attachable to the elastomeric ejection system by a clamp of the system.

    摘要: The detachable shock-absorbing ram-plate is used in a projectile launching system to mitigate launching impact forces and to prevent ram-plate re-strike during launch. The detachable shock-absorbing ram-plate is detachably coupled to the projectile using break-away fasteners that allow the ram-plate to be attached to the projectile during launch and detached from the projectile at the end of the launch. One embodiment of the detachable shock-absorbing ram-plate is a single impact, viscous fluid ram-plate including a cylinder, a perforated piston, and a viscous fluid disposed between the cylinder and the perforated piston. Upon receiving a high initial launch impact force, the piston compresses causing the viscous fluid to be forced through the perforated piston, thereby absorbing the shock of the initial launching impact force. Another embodiment of the detachable shock-absorbing ram-plate is a gas spring ram-plate having a cylinder and piston that compresses a gas to absorb shock caused by launching forces. A further embodiment of the shock-absorbing ram-plate is made from a compressible elastic material.

    摘要: A missile system includes a launcher having a built-in pulse power source and an electrical connection to a missile. The pulse power source is used to send activation and firing pulses to the missile. The pulse power source utilizes a piezoelectric crystal which produces a pulse of energy when struck by a spring-loaded hammer that is released by an operator. In one version, a first piezoelectric crystal produces a first pulse to activate the system when struck by a first hammer, and a second piezoelectric crystal produces a second pulse to fire the missile when struck by a second hammer. The energy pulses are conducted from the launcher to the missile through an inductive coupling between a primary induction coil in the launcher and a facing secondary induction coil in the missile.

The launch tube cover is divided into a plurality of segments which are frangible and are dispersed during launch of a missile 62. The surfaces of the individual segments are coated with water repellant material such as tetrafluoroethylene or silicone to prevent ice buildup. Moreover the outer surface of the head of the launch tube cover can be coated with a layer of metallic material to prevent electro magnetic interference or radio frequency interference. The launch tube cover is constructed of a light weight, water proof material such as an expanded closed cell foam including polyurethane foam.
