摘要: The present invention describes a safe-and-arm device, mechanism or assembly (160) for a projectile (100,102) equipped with a second-stage propellant (124). The second-stage propellant (124) is ignited after the projectile has been ejected out from a launcher barrel. A lockpin (190), being urged by a spring (194), is responsive to ignition of the second-stage propellant; after the lockpin (190) and spring (194) sense and respond to the second propulsion, an unbalanced rotor (164) forming part of the safe-and-arm device or assembly (160), is released to rotate from a “safe” state to an “armed” state, as the projectile continues traveling along its trajectory to a target. In one embodiment, the projectile is configured with a 40 mm cartridge containing a first propellant (122). An impact sensor may trigger an electric detonator or a point detonator may trigger a stab detonator to set off explosives disposed in the projectile.

摘要: A grenade firing mechanism 12 has a body 18 defining an internal chamber 32 in which a firing pin structure 40 is located. The firing pin structure is actuated by an inertia toggle 64 having a first end contained within the chamber and a second end region 72 which projects from the body. A safety lever 16 is releasably mounted to the second end region 72 of the inertia toggle in an operative position to prevent the inertia toggle moving to actuate the firing pin structure. A lever spring 104 is operative to eject the lever from the inertia toggle allow the firing pin structure to be actuated when the grenade is deployed. The lever 16 carries an abutment pin 120 which extends through the body to engage the firing pin structure 40 to inhibit the firing pin structure moving in a firing direction when the lever is in its operative position. The inertia toggle may have a convex abutment surface which engages the firing pin structure. The firing mechanism is particularly suited to a sound flash distraction grenade.

摘要: A locking pin extends between the firing pin and primer element of a projectile to prevent their engagement during transport and while within the barrel of the firing device because of the radial abutment of a safety member that will move axially out of engagement only after the projectile has left the barrel of the firing device so that the locking member may move radially outward to arm the device. The safety member may be the radial abutment of the cartridge case tubular wall before firing and the interior surfaces of the firing device barrel during firing, with the locking member preferably being spring urged outwardly. Also, the safety member may be an axially extending pin prevented from rearward movement out of engagement with the locking member by a spacer disc separable upon exit from the barrel or the cartridge bottom piece.

摘要: The invention provides a projectile adapted to be fired from a smooth bore weapon, such as a shotgun, by means of a cartridge containing a propellant charge. The projectile comprises a generally cylindrical casing and a warhead assembly, the warhead being hollow to accommodate an explosive charge and an initiator, the casing being formed with a firing pin spring biased to a safety position and locked in the safety position by a spring biased safety pin. The spring biased safety pin is adapted to release the firing pin in a predetermined period of time after the projectile exits from the weapon. The casing includes a plurality of fins foldable within the cartridge, but which deploy radially on leaving the weapon.

摘要: This percussion fuse comprises essentially a fuse of the percussion or impact type incorporating a primer, a striker, a massive member adapted to cause said striker to hit said primer by inertia when the impact shock takes place, said massive member being freely movable in all direction; a pin locking said primer and striker in their relative storage position is urged by spring means to its release or ejection position, this urging action being counteracted by a safety device comprising in turn three separate elements, namely a cap known per se which covers and protects said fuse, detachable ring and a weighted tape wound around said fuse for counteracting the ejection of said pin; this ring surrounds said weighted tape to prevent the unwinding.
