摘要: A method for use in a system for prioritizing risks associated with the design and manufacture of products involves performing a failure mode detection analysis. Functions of the product and/or of the process and the effects of undesirable events related to malfunctions are characterized, and potential failure modes and causes for the effects are identified. The features of the product/process that are responsible for the undesirable effects are determined. Severity, occurrence and detectability of the undesirable events are evaluated using specific measures designed to encourage score keeping, and risk factor numbers are computed. The resultant numbers are ranked and prioritized for a set of selected functions. Risk reduction may then be performed through engineering activities directed to remedy causes associated with the malfunctioning features. Failure mode detection analysis may be updated to continue incremental and focused improvements to the product and/or process. The method permits the capture of potential failures before they reach the field and the customer.

摘要: A preferred, non-destructive method for characterizing sputter target cleanliness includes the steps of sequentially irradiating the test sample with sonic energy predominantly of target sputter track areas; detecting echoes induced by the sonic energy; and discriminating texture-related backscattering noise from the echoes to obtain modified amplitude signals. These modified amplitude signals are compared with one or more calibration values so as to detect flaw data points at certain positions or locations where the comparison indicates the presence of at least one flaw. Most preferably, groups of the flaw data pixels corresponding to single large flaws are bound together so as to generate an adjusted set of flaw data points in which each group is replaced with a single, most significant data point. The adjusted set of flaw data point is used to calculate one or more cleanliness factors, or to plot a histogram, which characterizes the cleanliness of the sample.

摘要: A system for assessing an edge of a wiper blade includes a detector, a transport system, and an evaluation processing system. The detector provides an indication of each identified defect in an edge of the wiper blade. The transport system moves at least one of the detector and the wiper blade along at least a portion of the other. The evaluation processing system is coupled to the detector and obtains an evaluation of the edge of wiper blade based on the indication of each defect from the detector.

摘要: A degradation state of the gas turbine is repeatedly estimated with the aid of a set of measured values, at least one of the measured values not being taken into account in each case during the estimation. A deviating estimate which deviates substantially from the remaining estimates or from an estimate which takes account of all the measured values implies that a measured value which has not been taken into account for this deviating estimate is defective. This renders it possible to distinguish in a simple way between changes in state and measuring errors. In the case of a method for determining a degradation of a gas turbine which is being implemented in any case, the determination of defective sensors according to the invention is possible with a low programming outlay and without assumptions concerning a response of individual sensors.

摘要: A system and method is disclosed for facilitating the management of pipeline reliability, maintenance, repair, and/or replacement. Embodiments may be computer-implemented, and may be suitable for prestressed concrete cylinder pipe (e.g., PCCP). Method steps include inspecting the pipe and storing or inputting design and inspection parameters, as well as the maximum expected pressure within the pipe. A relation of pressure versus degradation (e.g., number of broken wires) may be used, which may have zones of risk or classifications corresponding to pipe management actions. The pipe may be analyzed for lack of prestress over various portions of circumference and length. The pipe rupture pressure, crack onset pressure, or can rupture pressure may be analyzed and compared to the expected pressure. The method may be tested and the inspection repeated while tracking changes. The action may involve, for instance, doing nothing, monitoring the pipe, repairing the pipe, or replacing the pipe.

摘要: Monitoring modules of a monitoring and protection system are disposed in groups proximate to points of interest in a machine system where dynamic operating conditions are monitored. A master module, which may be a similar monitoring module or a different device such as a gateway, stores user configuration parameters that are also stored in the monitoring modules. In the event of loss of service or replacement of a module, once the same or a different module is detected by the master, the configuration parameters are restored to the monitoring module to permit continuity of operation. The parameters may include multiple settings such as alarm levels, units of measure, processing parameters, response settings, and so forth.

摘要: A method and apparatus are described which periodically sense environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, or voltage applied to a product, and apply these sensed measurements to models of ageing acceleration. Acceleration factors from the models are accumulated in nonvolatile storage. The accumulated effective aging of the product is displayed to the owner or prospective customer in various desired formats, such as effective age, current acceleration factor, estimate of effective life used, or estimate of remaining life left in the product. A warning can be sent to the user to indicate that the product's effective life is over or is nearly over.

摘要: The present invention concerns a method and an installation for predicting the maximum running distance in degraded mode, without substantial deterioration in the running, of a mounted assembly comprising a rim, a safety support and a tire mounted on the rim. The method according to the invention comprises running the mounted assembly at a reduced or zero inflation pressure or the support mounted on the rim, from a time t0, at a given load and with a constant speed V, on at least one running surface so that the center (C) of the rim is a point which is substantially invariant during the running, monitoring the variation in a variable R representing the radial loading of the support as a function of the running time t, such method also comprising: (i) determining a value R1 attained by the variable R at the end of a predetermined stabilization time t1 which is such that the direction of variation of the variable R represents a radial loading of the support increasing overall beyond the stabilization time t1; then (ii) determining a critical running time t2 (t2>t1) at the end of which the variable R reaches a critical value R2 such that R2nullR1nullnullR, nullR being a value representing a critical increase in the loading of the support; and then (iii) making the running time t2 correspond to a distance d2, with d2nullV(t2nullt0) representing a prediction of the maximum running distance.

摘要: Automated systems for performing integrated analyses. In one embodiment, an integrated analysis system can be used to comprehensively evaluate the effects of changes in hardware configuration or operating conditions on gas turbine power plant performance and economics. The system evaluates these changes by concurrently analyzing a number of different aspects of the power plant while ensuring that the data used in each of the different analyses is consistent. These analyses can include turbine and compressor aerodynamic analysis, cooling and leakage flow analysis, heat transfer analysis, part life analysis, heat balance analysis, cost analysis and overall power plant performance and economic analysis.
