    摘要: A liquid crystal display device, and a fabricating method thereof, with improved bonding of an upper plate to a lower plate. The lower plate includes an organic protective film over an inorganic gate insulating layer that is on a substrate. Channels through the organic protective film expose either metal patterns or the gate insulating layer. A seal coated with a sealant is then placed over the organic protective film and channels. The sealant passes through the channels to the metal patterns or to the gate insulating layer. Bonding of the seal to the lower plate is improved by the sealant that contacts the metal patterns and/or the gate insulating layer. During LCD fabrication, the metal patterns act as etch stops when etching the channels. Alternatively, an etch stop semiconductor layer is placed on the gate insulating film. The etch stops prevent the etching process from exposing the lower substrate.

    摘要: In a LCD panel comprising a rear substrate, a front substrate, a liquid crystal material and a spacer for making the two substrates apart a specific distance from one another, a partition wall having at least one outlet unevenly disposed on the rear substrate is provided on the periphery of a display region of the rear substrate and another partition wall that surrounds the partition wall is provided on the periphery of the display region of the front substrate. Furthermore, a sealing material for sealing the liquid crystal material within the display region is provided at a tip end of the partition wall and an alignment layer for aligning molecules of the liquid crystal material in a predetermined direction is disposed on the display region of each of the rear substrate and the front substrate. Moreover, after the liquid crystal material has been dropped onto the display region of the rear substrate provided with the partition wall, the rear substrate and the front substrate are bonded to each other while a fraction of the liquid crystal material beyond a predetermined amount of liquid crystal material is discharged from the liquid crystal outlet. The sealing material is hardened while the rear substrate and the front substrate are entirely pressurized.

    摘要: Liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) cells include a plurality of pixel elements formed between substrates. Spacers are formed on a portion of some of the pixel elements and positioned in the cell gap. The spacers on each of these LCOS cells reflecting different colors are formed in different locations in each cell. The result is that substantially none of the spacers create overlapping dead spots in a composite image. The spacers are further distributed among these pixel elements such that spacers are absent from some pixel elements and such that there is a substantially uniform thickness in the cell gaps. The reduced severity of the dead spots in the composite image as a result of the spacers in different locations, the reduced size and number of the spacers, and the uniformity in the cell gaps provide higher optical image quality.
