    摘要: A multiple reflective mirrors module is described. The module is utilized in an optical engine of a business machine, such as a projector, a laser printer, a copy machine, or a scanner. The module has a fixed reflective mirror, a first tilting reflective mirror, and a second tilting reflective mirror. The first tilting reflective mirror receives an incident light and reflects the incident light to the fixed reflective mirror. Subsequently, the light is reflected by the fixed reflective mirror to the second tilting reflective mirror. Therefore, the second tilting reflective mirror generates an output light. When the first tilting reflective mirror rotates within an angle &thgr;1 and the second tilting reflective mirror rotates within an angle &thgr;2, the output light is capable of rotating within an output angle, twice of &thgr;1+&thgr;2. The fixed reflective mirror can be replaced by another tilting reflective mirror.

    摘要: Disclosed herewith is a rear projection optical system for being installed at a rear side of a screen of a rear projection apparatus. The rear projection system comprises: a display panel; a illuminating optical system for illuminating the display panel, the illuminating optical system being decentered from a screen center in both of a horizontal direction and a vertical direction; and a projection optical system, decentered from the screen center in the vertical direction, for projecting a display image on the display panel projected by the illuminating optical system onto a screen through a rear mirror positioned at a position that is the center of the screen. The projection optical system comprises a dioptric system, a deflection mirror, and a curved mirror in this order from the display panel to the rear mirror, and the curved mirror is decentered from the screen center in the vertical direction but centered against the screen center in the horizontal direction.

    摘要: An illumination engine for a projection display using a TLP including a reflector having a first focal point and second focal points. A source of electro-magnetic radiation disposed proximate to the first focal point of the reflector emits rays of radiation that reflect from the reflector toward the second focal point. A TLP collects and transmits substantially all of the radiation converged at the second focal point, adjusting the numerical aperture of the radiation, but curving the surface formed by the images of the radiation. A SLP or a lens collects and transmits substantially all of the radiation transmitted by the TLP, flattening the surface formed by the images of the radiation. A condenser lens collects and transmits substantially all of the radiation transmitted by the contoured delay element to a PBS and a projection system.

Lenses (100, 106) image the integrated light through a patterned-silvered mirror (104, 126) and onto a micromirror display device (MDD) (76, 122). Micromirrors in the MDD that are tilted to an image-forming angle, reflect the image-forming light back toward the patterned-silvered mirror, which propagates the image-forming light toward a projection lens (110). The patterned-silvered mirror includes an accurately positioned boundary separating transparent (102, 116, 128) and reflective (108, 124) portions, resulting in improved contrast of the projected image.

    摘要: In order to minimize light diffraction along the direction of switching and more particularly light diffraction into the acceptance cone of the projection optics, in the present invention, mirrors are provided which are not rectangular. Also, in order to minimize the cost of the illumination optics and the size of the display unit of the present invention, the light source is placed orthogonal to the rows (or columns) of the array, and/or the light source is placed orthogonal to a side of the frame defining the active area of the array. The incident light beam, though orthogonal to the sides of the active area, are not however, orthogonal to any substantial portion of sides of the individual mirrors in the array. Orthogonal sides cause incident light to diffract along the direction of mirror switching, and result in light ‘leakage’ into the on-state even if the mirror is in the off-state. This light diffraction decreases the contrast ratio of the mirror. The mirrors of the present invention result in an improved contrast ratio, and the arrangement of the light source to mirror array in the present invention results in a more compact system.

    摘要: A color-separating prism for producing narrow-spectral light from broader spectral light includes first, second, and third component prisms that form first and second adjacent pairs of faces. The color-separating prism also includes first and second reflective layers disposed between the prisms. The first and second reflective layers each reflect separate portions of input light back toward the front surface. In operation, a first portion of a light beam in a first wavelength range is reflected from the first reflective layer back toward the front face of the prism, and a second portion of the light beam in a second wavelength range is reflected from the second reflective layer back toward the front face of the prism. The first and second portions are totally internally reflected from the front face and exit the color-separating prism. The color-separating prism can be used in display systems.

The mounting part is not required to be sufficiently thick so that a fixing unit such as a threaded hole can be formed therein.
