Abstract:
A defrost or thaw measuring device has a dumbbell or hourglass-shaped rotatable compartment with a cavity, the cavity being partly filled with at least two phase change materials having different melting points. The measuring device may determine the time period of thawing at two or more temperature intervals in the refrigeration space.

Abstract:
An indication device is provided. The indication device includes an elongated fluid chamber containing at least one electrically conductive liquid driven by a pump for conductive liquids and an immiscible, relatively non-conductive fluid. At least one segment of at least one fluid is used as an indicator. This segment is driven by the pump along adjacent indices of an indicator visible to an observer using a meniscus location sensor and a feedback controller so as to e.g indicate a quantity to the observer.
Abstract:
An elapsed time indicator comprises a reservoir of a fluid, a porous sheet element and a fluid port located between the reservoir and the porous sheet element. The porous sheet element defines a predetermined area which is separated from the fluid port by a predetermined lateral distance. The fluid is selectively provided from the reservoir to the porous sheet element through the fluid port whereupon the porous sheet element transmits the fluid laterally through the porous sheet element at a predetermined rate away from the fluid port until the fluid impregnates the predetermined area of the porous sheet element so as to cause the predetermined area of the porous sheet element to become transparent or more transparent after expiry of a predetermined time period.
Abstract:
Provided is a method for determining a volume, at room temperature, of a first chamber having an unknown volume that is in fluid communication through a controllable valve with a second chamber having an unknown volume. The method can include measuring, by a pressure sensor coupled to one of the first chamber and the second chamber, a first equilibrium pressure of a gas that was introduced into the second chamber in both the first chamber and the second chamber after equilibrium is reached; measuring, by the pressure sensor, a second equilibrium pressure of the gas that was introduced into the second chamber in both the first chamber and the second chamber after equilibrium is reached, wherein the first chamber comprises an object with a known volume therein; and determining the volume of the first chamber based on the first equilibrium pressure and the second equilibrium pressure.
Abstract:
An elapsed time indicator (2), comprises an activator arrangement (25) comprising a fluid reservoir (20) and a conduit (22) configured to provide a predetermined flow rate of fluid (21) along the conduit (22). The elapsed time indicator (2) further comprises a visual display arrangement (18) configured to change appearance on exposure to the fluid (21). The conduit (22) connects the fluid reservoir (20) to the visual display arrangement (18). The activator arrangement (25) is configured to release fluid (21) from the fluid reservoir (20) in response to an activation event to permit the fluid (21) to flow.
Abstract:
The operating time of various equipment is measured with a sensor and a timer. The sensor detects something associated with operation of the equipment, such as air pressure at the exhaust of a pneumatic tool or a changing magnetic field near the rotor of an electric motor connected to a piece of rotating equipment. The sensor is activated when it detects the activity associated with the equipment, and the battery powered timer advances when the sensor is activated.
