摘要: A spherical mass with the general dimensions of a disc supported at its central axis by a bearing to facilitate rotation, and connected to a turbine driven shaft to enable its rotation, and with a power take off shaft through which the stored energy would be delivered as needed. The accelerating exhaust gases would impinge upon the blades of the said turbine driven shaft thus causing it to rotate rapidly and enable the rotation of the flywheel due to its being in contact with the flywheel through the enmeshing of gear teeth on the turbine driven shaft with gear teeth on the flywheel. The method described results in a turbine driven flywheel that captures and stores useful amounts of reusable energy that would normally be wasted by internal combustion engines.

摘要: An anti-theft device is disclosed for use on a vehicle employing air-operated parking brakes. The device is shaped for disposal about the parking brake release valves when engaged. The device includes a pair of mating halves formed for surrounding and enclosing the control valves while in an engaged position. A first of the halves includes a tongue having an opening therein and a second of the halves includes a channel for receiving the tongue. A lock is provided with a locking pin being disposed in the second half wherein the locking pin engages the opening in said tongue in order to secure the first and second halves together. Also, an adjustment mechanism is provided for tailoring the device to minor differences between the release valves from one vehicle to another.

摘要: A noise and vibration damper for use with a rotatable structure, such as a driveshaft assembly for a vehicular drive train system, includes an inner member, an elastomeric member that extends about the inner member, and an outer member that extends about the elastomeric member. The inner member is formed from a sheet of material that has been deformed to a desired shape, while the outer member is formed from a tube of material having a length that is selected to provide the desired dampening frequency. The natural resonant frequency of the noise and vibration damper can be adjusted by varying either or both of the shape of the inner member or the axial length of the outer member of the noise and vibration damper. In both instances, the weight distribution of the components of the noise and vibration damper is altered. As a result, the rotational inertia (and, therefore, the natural resonant frequency) of the noise and vibration damper can be altered to absorb the undesirable noise and vibration applied to the drive train system and to minimize the amount of such noise and vibration that is transmitted and amplified by the drive train system.

The device includes a swivelling lever mounted rotatably on the axis of an actuating lever of the vehicle parking brake, a locking disc which is provided with a circumferential toothing, is mounted rotatably on the swivelling lever and is fastened to the control cable, a spring element which is connected at one end to the locking disc and is fixed at the other end on the vehicle and is prestressed in the tensioning direction of the control cable, and a carry-along element which is held on the actuating lever and is arranged with a toothing which, after a swivelling backlash of the actuating lever, meshes with the circumferential toothing of the locking disc. In order, in a simple manner, to avoid as far as possible undesirable noises of the device when actuating the parking brake, the carry-along element may be held in an elastically moveable manner on the actuating lever.

摘要: A release mechanism for releasing a pretensioned shift cable connected to a gear changing mechanism. The release mechanism includes a toothed disk having retention and capture teeth and is nonrotatably connected to a cable spool and a sliding member that includes retention and capture pawls. When the release mechanism is actuated the retention pawl disengages from the toothed disk, the cable spool rotates until the capture pawl engages the toothed disk and when the release mechanism is released the capture pawl disengages the toothed disk and the retention pawl once again engages the toothed disk, resulting in a stepwise release of the shifting cable.

The pivot-less Watt linkage comprises an elongate, rigid, floating beam, an elongate first flexible beam, an elongate second flexible beam and a flexible member. The first flexible beam extends in a first direction from a first point on the floating beam to the first rigid element. The second flexible beam extends in a second direction, substantially opposite the first direction, from a second point on the floating beam to the first rigid element. The second point is spatially separated from the first point along the length of the floating beam. The flexible member extends in the first direction from a third point on the floating beam to the second rigid element. The third point is intermediate between the first point and the second point.
