Abstract: A device lubricates a big-end bearing on a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. The device includes a piston with a fluid channel and an outlet channel fluidically connected thereto, and a connecting rod. The connecting rod has a small connecting rod eye, a large connecting rod eye and a connecting channel. The small connecting rod eye is fluidically connected to the outlet channel. The connecting channel forms a fluidic connection between the small and large connecting rod eyes so that a cooling lubricant fluid can be supplied from the fluid channel to the large connecting rod eye via the outlet channel, the small connecting rod eye and the connecting channel. In this way, the big-end bearing can be lubricated by cooling oil from the fluid channel of the piston.

Abstract: A connecting rod is provided, which includes a rod shaft and a rod cap. The rod shaft and the rod cap can be releasably fastened through connecting means to form a connected state, and when the rod shaft and the rod cap are in the connected state, they form a rod eye configured to enclose a bore for mounting the connecting rod on a crank shaft. The rod shaft and the rod cap have contact surfaces at which they touch each other in the connected state. Abstract: A device for changing a compression ratio of a cylinder unit of a reciprocating piston combustion engine is provided. An eccentric bushing is rotatably arranged in a receiving bore hole of a bearing eye of a connecting rod (“conrod”). The conrod bearing eye is formed by a conrod upper part and a conrod lower part, and which surrounds a crankpin of a crankshaft. In addition, the eccentric bushing is rotatably guided in the receiving bore hole and can be locked preferably in two positions which are offset from one another by approximately 180° in the circumferential direction of the eccentric bushing. In order to achieve a targeted rotation of the eccentric bushing in the bore hole of the conrod bearing eye between the locking positions, a freewheel is arranged between an outer casing surface of the eccentric bushing and the receiving bore hole of the conrod bearing eye.

Abstract: After a connecting rod for an engine is formed, it is broken or fractured at a fracture point to allow the connecting rod to assemble around a portion of a crankshaft. However, before fracturing the connecting rod, the connecting rod is provided with a layer of paint across the eventual fracture point such that when the connecting rod is fractured the paint extends across both sides of the fracture point. Also before fracturing the connecting rod, serial numbers or symbols are etched into the paint on either side of the eventual fracture point. These serial numbers are unique to that connecting rod, and have similar indicia on either side of the connecting rod. The combination of the paint and serial numbers increase the ability of an assembly worker to assure matching parts of an original connecting rod are re-attached during assembly about the crankshaft.
