摘要: A method of extracting a section of a page from a portable document format file (“pdf”): The method includes receiving indication of a user-defined region on a pdf file page, designating an extraction region including all elements determined to be within the user-defined region, and placing the extraction region into a new file. The method may also include determining if one or more elements on the pdf page are within the user-defined region by applying inclusion rules based on whether an element's bounding box is within or intersects the user-defined region. The method may also include verifying the accuracy of the extraction by converting the user-defined region in the original pdf document and the extracted region to bitmap images and comparing the two bitmap images, bit by bit.

摘要: A method for identifying one or more image frames (100) from a series (104) of video image frames, in order to print, store or flag the selected frames. The method calculates a gradient value for each image frame in a video shot (102) series, identifies one or more gradient value peaks (324) in a corresponding range of a raw data series (302), and selects the image frames (110) corresponding to the identified gradient value peaks. Two types of frames (202, 206) are identified as being suitable for printing. A first type (202) comprises frames with a high gradient content, where the image is sharply defined. A second type of frame (206) also has good focus, but is representative of periods of relative stillness, or lack of motion between consecutive image frames (100) during the video shot series (104).

摘要: In case of reading a black-and-white original, the LEDs of R (red), G (green) and B (blue) colors are maintained at turn-on duty ratios same as those at the color image reading, and are turned on simultaneously or in succession, with the turn-on period reduced to ⅓, whereby the forward current of each of the R, G, and B LEDs is maintained same in the color image reading mode and in the black-and-white image reading mode. Thus, in case of reading the black-and-white original with the light source-switched color image sensor, the current adjusting means for adapting to such reading modes can be dispensed with in the light emitting elements for illuminating the original image, and the service life of the device can be extended with the simple configuration.

摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an original document conveying device to convey an original document at a predetermined conveying speed according to a magnification ratio. An original document reading device reads image information of the original document with a one-dimensional image sensor, and an information omission device omits information of the image information of the original document read by the original document reading device. An image forming device forms an image according to the image information read by the original document reading device synchronized with conveying of the original document by the original document conveying device. An original document protect mode designating device designates an original document protect mode, and an original document protect mode processing device reduces the predetermined original document conveying speed of the original document conveying device by 1/n and causes the information omission device to omit information of every (n-1) number of lines of the image information read by the original document reading device in a sub-scanning direction when the original document protect mode is designated by the original document protect mode designating device.

摘要: A user interface high-lighter function for scanner software that allows a user to automatically select a portion or several disjoint portions of text within a region of text in a preview scan of a document. When activated, the high-lighter function causes the normal mouse cursor to be replaced with a high-lighter icon having an active edge. Using the mouse, the active edge of the high-lighter icon is moved across a desired portion of text, and background pixels traversed are displayed in a different color. The traversed pixels are then used as input for an image processing routine. Text regions are generated from the traversed pixels. The beginning and ending of lines not high-lighted are cropped. A polygonal bounding box is then displayed around the selected text. An un-highlight mode can be activated to reduce the selected text. An optimized re-scan of the to selected text can now be performed.

摘要: A management information extraction apparatus learns the structure of ruled lines of a document and the position of user-specified management information such as a title, etc. during a form learning process, and stores them in a layout dictionary. During the operation, the structure of the ruled lines extracted from an image of an input document is matched with that of the document in the layout dictionary. Then, position information in the layout dictionary is referred to, and the management information is extracted from the input document.

摘要: This relates to a system for sensing the presence of an object in the field of view of an imaging assembly of a stationary position optical reader. The system includes a light source disposed in a field of view of the imaging assembly, which is configured to emit light in the direction of the imaging assembly according to a predetermined light pattern. A determination as to whether an object is present in a presentation area of the reader system is made by detecting for the presence of the light pattern in image information generated by the imaging assembly.

摘要: A close-up imaging device may take advantage of the pinhole effect that may be achieved with complementary metal oxide semiconductor imaging arrays. In particular, a high magnification optical lens may be placed at a distance from the imaging array which is less than the focal length of the device. In this way, a relatively compact, low cost imaging device may be used for close-up imaging applications such as fingerprint scanning or text reading.

摘要: The data acquisition device comprises a projecting device for projecting the light emitted by a radiation source onto a section of a marked surface, and an optical unit for recording and reproducing the reflected light on a screen sensor converting the reflected light into a sequence of electronic signals. Furthermore, the data acquisition device has a motion detector for generating synchronizing signals in the presence of a movement parallel with the marked surface, as well as a signal processing unit converting the signals of the screen sensor into information packets containing independently of the character code the alphanumerical, graphic or pictured information of a freely selectable part of the marked surface, and recallably storing such information packets in a memory unit.
