    摘要: A method of locating a concealed conductor is performed by generating a magnetic field with a direction in which the field is a maximum. The magnetic field is rotated until that direction is directed towards the conductor. In this way, a signal is induced in the conductor which has a maximum value when that direction is directed towards the conductor. The induced signal is detected in the conductor, using a detector arranged to determine the direction of the conductor relative to the detector. The detector detects when the induced signal has the maximum value.

    摘要: An improved non-obtrusive weapon detection system and method used in discriminating between a concealed weapon made of a ferromagnetic material. The system provides a high probability of detection of hand guns and other types of weapons with a low false alarm rate. The detection of the weapon is accomplished by measuring a total electromagnetic field. The total field being the sum of an incident electromagnetic field and an electromaetic field scattered from the object. The system uses a magnetic field transmitter, which transmits a low intensity electromagnetic signal. The electromagnetic signal illuminates a volume wherein the weapon, called a target, may or may not be carried by a person. The electromagnetic signal is in a form of a sudden steplike change in a constant magnetic field, called a “time-domain” excitation. The waveform or step pulse of the time-domain excitation is called a Heaviside step pulse. The step pulse creates two signals, which are analyzed and digitally processed using a preprogrammed computer. The analyzed information allows an observer to identify the target as being threatening or non-threatening.

The apparatus includes a mounting lip adapted to conform to the top periphery of the trashcan and adapted to removably mount to and surround the aperture of the trashcan. A funnel shaped entryway extends from the mounting lip. A plurality of vertical walls are below the mounting lip and the top periphery of the trashcan and are attached to the funnel shaped entryway and form an opening to the trashcan. A detector coil surrounds the vertical walls for detecting metal passing through the opening. Control electronics coupled to the detector coil includes a speaker and a light indicator for warning that the detector coil has detected metal passing through the opening. A counter displays the number of times the detector coil has detected metal passing through the opening. A gain adjust is provided for adjusting the sensitivity of the detector coil.

    摘要: A device (12) facilitates sealing and tracking of a container (18). The device includes a bolt (166) which extends through openings in a latch mechanism (19) on the container. The bolt also passes through spaced coils (251, 252) of the seal device. The seal device uses one coil to generate a magnetic field, while monitoring the corresponding magnetic field induced in the other coil. Tampering with the bolt affects the magnetic field, which in turn permits the seal device to detect the tampering. The seal device periodically transmits wireless signals (71), which can be remotely received for purposes of tracking the container and monitoring the integrity of the seal.
