Abstract:
A vacuum container for a flat image display apparatus comprises a rear substrate having an electron-emitting device mounted thereon, a face substrate arranged to face the rear substrate, having thereon a phosphor emitting light when the electron emitted from the electron-emitting device collides therewith; and an outer frame arranged between the face substrate and the rear substrate. For this vacuum container, the outer frame is provided with a plurality of frame members. With the structure thus arranged, this vacuum container contributes significantly to manufacturing a light weight, but highly robust flat image display apparatus at lower costs, because, with the provision of a plurality of frame members for the outer frame portion, thinner substrates can be utilized with a good sealing mechanism, while securing the sufficient robustness of the edge circumference of the vacuum container.
Abstract:
A spacer assembly has first and second spacers standing on first and second surfaces of a plate-like grid to be integral with them. First and second molds each with a plurality of through holes are arranged on the first and second surfaces of the grid to be in tight contact with them. After that, the through holes of the molds are filled with a glass paste containing an ultraviolet-curing binder, and the glass paste is cured by irradiation with ultraviolet rays. Furthermore, while the molds are held in a tight contact state, the glass paste is calcined at a predetermined temperature. Thus, the first and second spacers are integrally formed on the grid surfaces.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an infrared radiation source having at least one electrical heat conductor situated in a long, two-ended casing tube made of quartz glass, the casing tube having at least one elevation made of quartz glass on its wall which faces the at least one heat conductor, which locally reduces the inner diameter of the casing tube. At least one heat conductor is designed as a heating coil. The casing tube has a constant outer diameter in the region of the heating coil, the elevation has a convex shape on its surface facing the heating coil, and the heating coil contacts the elevation only at the highest point of the elevation.
Abstract:
A rib material is delivered to a back plate from a direction tilted forward with respect to a direction of movement of a nozzle relative to the back plate. This delivery mode applies a horizontal velocity component to the rib material in a direction corresponding to the direction of movement of the nozzle relative to the back plate. A velocity difference between the horizontal velocity component of the rib material and a relative moving velocity component of the back plate resulting from the relative movement between the nozzle and back plate is reduced for equalization. This suppresses deformation of the rib material delivered, thereby depositing the rib material on the back plate in a desired shape determined by discharge openings of the nozzle. Barrier ribs are thereby formed with high accuracy.
Abstract:
This invention provides an arrangement for alleviating the electric charge of members apt to be electrically charged such as spacers used in an electron beam apparatus by arranging a high resistance film thereon. Particularly, the low resistance layer arranged at each of the members is covered by a high resistance film to suppress any electric discharges.
