摘要: A modularized metal-air battery includes a metal-plate module, a first air-plate module and a second air-plate module. The metal-plate module has a metal anode enclosed in a frame that is thicker than the metal anode. Each of the first and second air-plate modules has an air cathode enclosed in a frame that is thicker than the air cathode. The first air-plate module, the metal-plate module and the second air-plate module are combined to constitute the metal-air battery in such a manner that the frames thereof are securely attached together thereby defining at least two chambers which are selectively filled with liquid electrolyte.

摘要: An electrical contacting device for a fuel cell assembly comprises a printed circuit board comprising electrically conductive regions for providing reliable electrical contact with fuel cell components of the fuel cell assembly. Preferably the printed circuit board is flexible. The contacting device may be used, for example, for monitoring cell operating parameters like current or voltage, for short circuiting or by-passing individual cells or for directing signals to the stack.

摘要: A multicell assembly is constituted by alternately stacking two types of pre-assembled elements: a bipolar electrode holding subassembly and a membrane holding subassembly. The alternate stack of elements is piled over a bottom end element and the stack is terminated by placing over the last membrane holding element a top end electrode element. Each bipolar plate electrode holding element and each ion exchange membrane separator holding element includes a substantially similar rectangular frame piece, made of an electrically nonconductive and chemically resistant material, typically of molded plastic material, having on its upper (assembly) face grooves for receiving O-ring type gasket means, and having through holes and recesses in coordinated locations disposed along two opposite sides of the rectangular frame forming, upon completion of the assembling, ducts for the separate circulation of the negative electrolyte and of the positive electrolyte through all the negative electrolyte flow chambers and all positive electrolyte flow chambers, respectively, in cascade.

摘要: The present invention relates to a circuit arrangement for a composite fuel cell system comprising a plurality of individual fuel cells connected in series, the voltage of the individual fuel cells being monitored, in which case components are present which enable the individual fuel cells to be bridged in the sense of a low-resistance parallel circuit. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for operating a circuit arrangement of this type, in which case the fuel cells are bridged if the magnitude of their voltage falls below a specific threshold value or if the sign of their voltage has changed relative to normal operation, or alternatively in which case the components are controllable switches which are driven if the composite fuel cell system is intended to be discharged.

摘要: A fuel cell stack has a plurality of fuel cells, separators sandwiching each of the fuel cells, and first and second end plates disposed on respective opposite ends of the plurality of fuel cells. A fastening structure incorporated in the fuel cell stack has a liquid chamber disposed on an outer surface of the first end plate, a silicone oil filled in the liquid chamber, and a pressurizing mechanism disposed on an outer surface of the second end plate, for pressing the fuel cells toward the first end plate. The plurality of fuel cells is given a uniform surface pressure, and can be reduced in weight and made compact.
