    摘要: In a CRT display apparatus, a horizontal distortion correction apparatus is provided for correcting horizontal distortion of an image by applying a residual phase to control the phase of a horizontal deflection current. The horizontal distortion correction apparatus corrects horizontal distortion of an image caused by an assembly error of the CRT display apparatus for displaying an image by scanning a video signal, based on a horizontal synchronizing signal included in the video signal. The horizontal distortion correction apparatus includes a PLL supplying the horizontal deflection current to a video signal controller for displaying an image on the CRT. A distortion-correcting waveform generator is operated by the user, applying a wave signal having a desired waveform to the PLL to provide a residual phase for the horizontal deflection current to control the phase thereof. As a result, the image without horizontal distortion is displayed on the CRT display apparatus.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for analyzing the brightness characteristics of a projected image and using the analyzed characteristics to improve the appearance of the projected image is disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, the brightness characteristics of the projected image are analyzed at selected points across the raster of the image. An analysis array or array of data elements including brightness components corresponding to detail elements is then generated. The data elements in the array are then used to create compensation signals that are applied to the projected image through, for example, an overlay of smoothing factors or generation of a smoothing curve, to enhance the quality or appearance of the image by improving the regularity of brightness in all areas of the image. This regularity of brightness across the full span of the image is useful as a general improvement to the image and as a compensation for projector or projection surface brightness anomalies. In arrayed projection applications, central hot spotting, edge vignetting, electron beam or light source misalignments all can detract from evenly displayed images and all can benefit from the application of compensation that depends on an analysis array of the projected image.

    摘要: A focus compensation apparatus and method for a monitor system are provided. The focus compensation apparatus includes a parabolic signal generation circuit for generating a parabolic signal in synchronization with a horizontal flyback pulse, the waveform of the parabolic signal varying in response to first and second control signals. A video signal focus compensator adjusts the gain of an input video signal such that the gain increases from the center of the monitor screen toward the edge of the monitor screen in response to the parabolic signal. The focus compensator outputs a gain-adjusted video signal as a focus-compensated video signal. According to the focus compensation apparatus, the gain of an input video signal is adjusted using a parabolic signal, the level of which increases from the center of a monitor screen toward the edge of the monitor screen, thereby preventing a picture from being out of focus and blurred at the edge of the monitor screen. In addition, the waveform of the parabolic signal is automatically varied by a parabolic signal generation circuit while the gain of the input video signal is being adjusted to adjust contrast or auxiliary contrast, thereby effectively performing focus compensation at the edge of the monitor screen.

    摘要: A projection type video display apparatus prevents resolution of a screen from decreasing by converting a video signal of an interlaced scanning mode received from an outside source to a video signal of a progressive scanning mode. A signal selecting section outputs one of a plurality of video signals received from the outside source in response to a control signal from a control section. A progressive scanning conversion section converts the video signal from the signal selecting section to a video signal of the progressive scanning mode in response to a control signal from the control section. When the video signal from the progressive scanning conversion section is amplified as a red-green-blue signal by means of a cathode-ray tube driving section, a progressive convergence section outputs a progressive convergence signal in order to minimize a difference between incidence angles of each of the red, green and blue components of the red-green-blue signal in response to a control signal from the control section. A cathode-ray tube outputs the red-green-blue signal from the cathode-ray tube driving section in response to the progressive convergence signal. A control section outputs control signals to the signal selecting section, progressive scanning conversion section and progressive convergence section, respectively. Accordingly, a decrease in the resolution of the video displayed on a screen is prevented.
