Abstract: Provided is a sealed dual membrane (SDM) structure and a device including the same. The SDM structure according to the present invention includes a substrate, a first vibrating membrane and a second vibrating membrane disposed on the substrate, which form a sealed cavity together with the substrate, a first back electrode plate and a second back electrode plate disposed between the vibrating membrane and the second vibrating membrane, and a conductor plate unit disposed between the first back electrode plate and the second back electrode plate. The first vibrating membrane and the second vibrating membrane are mechanically coupled to the conductor plate unit, and the conductor plate unit forms a capacitor structure with each of the first back electrode plate and the second back electrode plate. The present invention reduces the number of pillars required in the SDM structure and increases the sensitivity of the device including the SDM.

Abstract: In at least one embodiment, a microphone assembly including a substrate, a printed circuit board (PCB), a micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) transducer, a first lid, and a second lid is provided. The substrate defines a first port that extends completely therethrough. The PCB defines a sound opening that extends completely therethrough. The MEMS transducer is positioned on a first side of the substrate. The first lid defines a second port and covers the MEMS transducer and the first port. The first lid and the substrate define a front volume of air that surrounds the MEMS transducer. The second lid is positioned on the second side of the PCB. A cavity of the second lid, the sound opening of the PCB, the sound opening of the PCB, and the first port of the substrate define a back volume of air that is greater than the front volume of air.

Abstract: An optoelectronic device for a self-mixing interferometer includes a driver block, a semiconductor laser (SCL), a detector (DTC) and a switching network (SWN). The driver block is operable to provide a time modulated control signal, wherein the control signal has a periodic waveform. The semiconductor laser (SCL) is operable to emit a laser light with a time-dependent characteristics being a function of the control signal and a self-mixing interference optical feedback. The detector (DTC) is operable to generate a detection signal depending on the time-dependent characteristics. The switching network (SWN) is arranged to provide a time sequence of detection signals per period of the control signal.

Abstract: Various systems, devices, and methods for social interaction measurement that preserve privacy are presented. An audio signal can be captured using a microphone. The audio signal can be processed using an audio-based machine learning model that is trained to detect the presence of speech. The audio signal can be discarded such that content of the audio signal is not stored after the audio signal is processed using the machine learning model. An indication of whether speech is present within the audio signal can be output based at least in part on processing the audio signal using the audio-based machine learning model.

Abstract: Voice-controlled devices that include one or more speakers for outputting audio. In some instances, the device includes at least one speaker within a cylindrical housing, with the speaker aimed or pointed away from a microphone coupled to the housing. For instance, if the microphone resides at or near the top of the cylindrical housing, then the speaker may point downwards along the longitudinal axis of the housing and away from the microphone. By pointing the speaker away from the microphone, the microphone will receive less sound from the speaker than if the speaker were pointed toward the microphone). Because the voice-controlled device may perform speech recognition on audio signals generated by the microphone, less sound from the speaker represented in the audio signal may result in more accurate speech recognition, and/or a lesser need to perform acoustic echo cancelation (AEC) on the generated audio signals.
